To tint or not to tint

I have a light tint on the door windows and a little more tint on the back "greenhouse" glass.

    Retrotek Purchase

Wow, I just noticed the price increase. In November the polished kit was $1,895.00 and they were advertising that the die cast version would likely come in around $100.00 less. The die cast one is listed at $2.195.00 now. Plus you need to purchase their returnless line fuel system is another...

    Tire Size

235/45/17's might fit in the front, but you better be willing to roll your wheel well lips and get an alignment with at least 2* negative camber. I have 225/45/17 front and 245/45/17 rear on 17" X 8", w/ 4.75" backspacing. I could have gotten a 255/45/17 on the rear, but I don't think I...

    Explorer 8.8 in a 1966

Someone on one of the forums stocks the correct axle tubes and axles for this swap. If I find it I will post a link. Have you checked in the FAQ's on rear end swaps? Tim

    GT-40 or GT-40p

OK, next question. What are some good, inexpensive roller rockers for these heads? Tim

    GT-40 or GT-40p

Thanks Bnic, I did some research and it looks like the '96-'97 Explorer heads are GT-40s. Plus there were some pictures on what to look at specifically to identify them. I think I'm going to go ahead and get them, I think the 351 heads are my limiting factor. Thanks, Tim

    GT-40 or GT-40p

I found a local buy of some cast iron Ford heads for a good price. "I have a set of Gt 40 iron heads that have about 1k miles on them sice being Cleaned, ported, 3 angle valve job, milled .005", and new Trick Flow spring Kit." The seller says they are GT-40 heads off of a '96 or a '97...

    What size wheels

    Here's my car with: American Racing Torq-Thrust D's, 15" X 7" w/ 3.75" backspacing 225/50/15's on all four corners and here it is with: American Racing CL-205's, 17" X 8" w/ 4.75" backspacing 225/45/17 in the front 245/45/17 in the rear (I could have fit 255/45/17)

calling all pro touring or full race mustangs

I autocross and open track my '65 and am going to enter a Time Trails event this Spring. It's a lot of fun and you can really feel the changes that you make to your car this way. I would suggest that anyone interested start with autocross, it is a great way to sort out your car and get it set...

    What Shocks?

I agree with Craig, if your on a budget I like the KYB Gas-A-Just up front and the KYB GR-2's in the rear. But if you can afford it upgrade to the Edelbrock IAS or even better the Bilstein's. Tim

    1967/1968 Pop Open Gas Cap

I think what CanyonCarver515 and Mr-Fixit are trying to convey is, the '67-'68 pop open gas cap will not seat on the flat panel of your car, but the '70 pop open gas cap will seat flush with your tail light panel. They are the same gas pop open type gas caps, but the 70 will fit a flat panel...

    Alignment finally close to specs

They both have their advantages. I have the Baer Trackers and they solved my problems. They, also, replace a bushing with a hemispherical bearing on the rod end, so they help to reduce steering effort on a manual steer car. The installation seems pretty involved, but mine were installed...

    Alignment finally close to specs

It sounds like classic bumpsteer to me. Here are a couple of links explaining bumpsteer - http://www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/mufp_0611_bumpsteer_explained/index.html & http://www.bakerprecision.com/longacr17a.htm Bumpsteer is pretty common in early Mustangs, especially if they have...

    New Wheels (Finnaly) pic

What is the backspacing of the front wheels? With the right backspacing, you should be able to easily fit a 225/45/17 on a 7" wide rim. Tim

    exhaust cut outs

I put mine in after the header, before the crossover. In hind site I would not do it again. I uncorked them once at the track and was asked to put them back on before going back out. I've never had them off since. Tim

Anybody heard anything about this carb style EFI?

I'm interested in these units too. They look like a quality piece and I would love some feed back from someone that is running this set up. But that $1,900.00 doesn't include their "returnless fuel system", which is another $300.00. Retrotek EFI kit - $2,200.00 There is, also, the...
