    how wide up front?

I am running 265/35 - 18 on my '01 with no problems at all. I have Y2K Cobra R's and they are 9 1/2 wide. I have seen many posts here running 275's on 17" rims.

    01 wheel hop

I installed a Maximum Motorsports crossmember and it helps considerably. It brings the rear up to '03 - '04 specs. Basically what it does is add support to the front of the differential. It is a relatively inexpensive and easy update.

    Horrible Engine Noise

Check your oil filter. It sounds like the anti drain back valve is no good or the filter doesn't have one. Always use a Motorcraft filter on your Mustang. You can't go wrong with that. What happens is the oil in the filter drains back into the pan and, when you start up, it takes a few...

Best way to keep your engine bay clean.

I learned the hard way on my '96 GT. I pressure washed it and filled a couple of the spark plug wells with water/soap. It ran fine at first then went south. I messed with it for a day or so and found the water. After blowing out the well with compressed air it was OK for a while then started...

2000 GT Coupe Wind Noise HELP!

Same here, '01 Cobra. Over 70 and it whistles like crazy. The goof at the dealer said "all Cobras do it". None of my other Mustangs ever did.

Bumps and Clunks in the Tranny

I think it has been mentioned is several threads before. Ford build a lot of Cobra's with the wrong size bolt in the forward IRS mounting locations. They should have a 14mm bolt but have 12mm's. My '01 would clunk when, at a stop, you put it in gear. Any gear. Sometimes if I didn't shift just...

    Tire Choices for '03 Cobra?/!

Try www.tirerack.com. They compare many brands/models and are very helpful over the phone. They are mail order and ship right to your house or shop. They are very competitive on price. I run the Bridgestone RE730's on the street and think they are very good. Not a race tire, however...

OK 2001 Cobra.... Pros and cons

First of all, I love my 2001 Cobra. I agree with the above, it does have a noisy engine, pings on crappy California gas and has a few body squeeks. It is hard to shift but does not grind. I think others describe it as "notchy". I'm used to it. It did have the 12mm bolts in the IRS which I...

    Engine throwing code: P1131

The fronts and rears are different. Don't mix them up. I got Bosch O2's from NAPA for my '96 GT and when I took them out of the box, they had Ford logos and part numbers on them. The were not hard to swap. Oh, by the way, they were about $25 less than the dealer per sensor.

    Gear lube question

80W-90 is good. It should take 2.0l or 4.25pts. Use 4 oz of Ford friction modifier, C8AZ-19B546-A and you can't go wrong.

HELPFUL TIPS FOR CHANGING SPARK PLUGS

After you get the covers off and coils out, be sure to blow any dirt out of the wells before removing the plugs. You don't want any grit to fall in the cylinders. These are really easy engines to change plugs on.

    bullit pedal questions

I agree that they are a pain to install but a nice addition. A little trick is to spray the back of the clutch and brake pedals with clear silicone spray lube. Hook the pad over the top of the metal pedal, push hard and twist back an forth. They will eventually pop on. It may take several tries...
