4 lug to 5 lug conversion What will i need?

Just in case you are not aware of this, the 69 rear end is wider then the 66. If you want to keep the same width front and rear you will either need to run more off set on the rear or use the same offset for the front as the rear and use a spacer on the front. If you could find a rear out of a...

    8.8 fitment in 66?

D.Hearne I don't know how that happened but I have 92 ranger with factory 4.0 V6 and 8.8 and a 91 explorer and I have measured them and there is definitely a difference in width. The front 4x4 front seemed the same because I couldn't really measure any difference. I think the ranger...

    8.8 fitment in 66?

Not quite all true D.Hearne, the Ranger 8.8 is narrower than the explorer. The 91-92 rangers are 3" narrower, then I believe in 93 1.5" was added to them so they are only 1.5"s narrower then the explorer. I also think that the FX4 rangers got 31 spline axels in the 8.8. All this info is...

anyone uses 5.0 explorer engine/efi/electronics in a classic mustang

Hickfied, I know the made explorer 5 speeds with the 4.0 V6 but I have never seen or heard of 5 speed manual transmissions in 5.0 V8 explorers. Last year I even saw an explorer sport trac that had a 5 speed manual, but that was with the 4.0 V6. XOXBXFX it doesn't sound to bad the way you...

anyone uses 5.0 explorer engine/efi/electronics in a classic mustang

Unfortunatly ford only put the auto behind the v8 in the explorers, as far as I know. I don't think they have a standard trans that has the shifter location needed for the explorer/ranger that is somewhat "sporty" and would have the durability to handle the v8 torque. If they did it would make...

anyone uses 5.0 explorer engine/efi/electronics in a classic mustang

I think the coil packs would be cool also but forgot about the obd II. I think if I could find a mustang with mass air that would probably be better. I wonder if the cam in the explorer has the gear for the distributor or would that need to be changed. The engine does have 155000 miles on it...

anyone uses 5.0 explorer engine/efi/electronics in a classic mustang

Ok, I will try a slightly different spin on the question. Can a pcm from a vehicle with an electronic automatic transmission be used in a vehicle that will have a standard transmission? Could a pcm from a 90's mustang with standard transmission be used with an explorer 5.0 v8 that has...

anyone uses 5.0 explorer engine/efi/electronics in a classic mustang

There is a junk yard that has a 97 explorer 5.0. I am considering it but was woundering if anyone has ever used one of these with the coil packs, instead of distributor, as far as electronics. Can the explorer electronics be used. My mustang will have a 5 speed standard, not the electonic aod...

A Real Mustang II Suspension on a 65

the granada discs are 5 lug and larger in diameter, something like 10 or 11 in compared to 9 inch or something like that for the mustang II. You buy the caliper adapter brackets that bolt in to the stock mustang II caliper bolt holes and the caliper brackets are designed for chevy calipers to...

A Real Mustang II Suspension on a 65

You can use the older granada disks, the late 70's models, on the mustang II spindles. Next you need to by a set of caliper brakets that you can purchase through AFCO racing for around $40 a pair and then you will need to purchase some chevy car calipers, I don't remember which ones, AFCO might...

    TKO or g-force?

I would go with the g force. I think even with the beefed up internals the weight should be less then the tko and is smaller so it will easily fit, plus you already have all the installation hardware.

In need of a toploader bellhousing.!!!

Something else to potentially be aware of is if you are putting it into a mustang, you new block won't have the predrilled hole for the clutch fork pivot. I think there are kits that you can buy that attach it off the bellhousing.

    The SN65 project car

SLA stands for Short Long Arm suspension, an example would be a mustang 2 front suspension, it uses a shorl top arm and a longer bottom arm, this way you can design how you want your camber curves to act.

    The SN65 project car

I am not sure what kind of budget you have for this project, but have you thought about changing the front suspension from a strut to a SLA type. There are some bolt in ones out there now from Bartworks, and I think Griggs may have one now. If you go to cornercarvers.com there has been some...

    new going old (backspacing ?)

I think the bullet rims for the actually go on the sn95 chassis mustangs are 5.25" back spacing so you need something like .75" spacer. You could probably call some of the mustang parts places like mustang plus and they might know for sure.
