    yeah I hear you there, tony on this thread had one & had basically the same problem. His was supposedly a SFI pinned version. as far as the coat hanger trick that's exactly what I did. That's how I figured on 27* inital. The balancer seemed 12* out so I added 15 & viola, it runs better...

    I would tend to think this is b/c you are pushing more air through a realtivly smaller muffler than mustangs. The way i see it & feel free to correct me... the amount of velocity vs. area for the sound to be absorbed is smaller by comparison. IE 3" pipe with a 2 3" mufflers all flowing...

    unless you are set on the turbo swirls I'd suggest TFS /edelbrocks/Afrs' instead of the turbo swirls. Generally b/c the other heads will offer more bang for the buck than the turbo swirls. Everything else seems good but the edelbrock performer may be a better intake just b/c of flow balance...
