    there is no parasitic loss... there is no such thing as a manual CVT either lol it is the fact that they cant hold up to a lot of power. u see them in a lot of the small european cars. engineers are making them stronger, but its still a belt or chain set up. its limited.

    its the motor that makes the sound, its the muffler that tones it. the muffler has less to do with the sound than the motor. that muffler wont make the car sound like a rice burner; but it certianly wont sound like high end muffler systems like pacesetter, magnaflow, borla etc... btw doesnt...
