    weight

While every pound counts in weight reduction for racing, all that stuff behind the driver is coming off the wrong end {for traction} and isn't all that heavy to begin with. Concentrate on removing front end weight.

    Police interceptor engine?

I've been a Ford parts man since 1989. There is NO difference in a SSP Mustang engine from the standard H.O. You have your stories and anecdotes. I have the Ford parts books. Case closed. :lock:

Can I use the dizzy to prime oil?

Bought a $1 yard sale 12" 1/4 drive extension, bought a $3 1/4 drive 1/4 deep socket, cut the female half of the extension off and welded the socket to the extension. Four dollar SBF primer tool that won't fall into the engine. Can easily be chucked up into a 3/8 drill motor too. Works for my...

    body parts

I sold 2 aftermarket fenders, an LX nose {rubber only}, hood and a cherry complete LX hatch to a fellow for $120. Salvage yards are ususlly going to want a little more for their stuff, but that is what you have to pay sometimes for the convienence of one stop shopping. You might find a better...

    Black box on 88 GT???

That is your EEC relay. It should have a base # of 12A646 stamped on it and be 1/2 brown and 1/2 black in color. Yes it will stop the car from running.

    Will 20W 50 oil hurt?

I have run Kendall GT1 20w50 since the first oil change. That was 17 years and 170,000 miles ago. Religious 2500 mile change intervals. Never have had the heads or oil pan off. :)

Do 5.0's have freon in them?

Speaking just for Fords, all were using R-134 from the factory starting in the 1994 model year. Most all R-12 cars can use R-134 with a swap of a few parts. I would suggest letting a professional do it for best results, but it aint brain surgery. As far a R-12, use it if you've got it! I still...

    Help replacing A/C compressor clutch.

I'll have to look the price up at work Monday. It is a Ford part so it will be more expensive than aftermarket. Ford parts are the only ones that I know of that breaks the clutch down into the 3 seperate pieces. Inspect the contact surface of the pulley to make sure it's not messed up. Mine has...

what size socket fits hub retaining nut

Eastern Arkansas must be a lot like Central Florida. We use the same tools on our cars. :flag:

    Help replacing A/C compressor clutch.

The disc or friction plate on my 88 LX has come apart 3 times in 170,000 miles of driving. It is the outermost part of the clutch assy. It is an easy fix, take loose the 12mm hub nut and slap a new one on. All 3 desinigrated and left a powdery rubber residue all around the front of the...

Whats the difference in XXX and YYY on the block?

Actually, I think I did answer the question after my smart aleck male/female remark. A raw casting is a raw casting, differences happen later when they are machined. There is always some kind of marking on anything cast to tell when and where it originated from. :)

Input needed on my vibration conclusion

Get some casting #s off of your crankshaft. Get them from your damper too. Sounds like a classic case of balance mismatch. Guessing can get expensive and running it out of balance will eat up bearings--pronto!! All three parts {damper, crank, and flywheel} MUST be of the same balance. Any one of...

Whats the difference in XXX and YYY on the block?

XXX is a male block. YYY is a female. :D :D Probably just a shift change designation at the foundry.

    Daily driving with a C4??

Yup Hissin', That's the one! It was a lot of fun, ugly as sin and way faster than it looked ! Just got tired of all my toys and cleaned out. I sold all 5 of my ATVs, my 66 F100 that I bought in 1978, my car trailer and all! If I can get motivated enough I'll get started on the Bobcats...

    Belt routing

Find an early 80's Crown Vic cop car with a 351W in it and snag all the alternator brackets, W/P pulley and crank pulley. Buy a new water pump {for the 80's CV, standard rotation} and use a flat 6 rib belt in a non-serpentine routing. You get the strength and resistance to flying off of the...
