    Replaced top on '96 Cobra

I've never had a convertible Mustang but I'd be willing to bet there's not supposed to be a gap around the window. Is it a top quality top or a cheapo aftermarket? I had a "chop shop" put leather interior in my wife's car and it wasn't near the quality of factory but it also wasn't near the price.

    lower intake vs carb cleaner??

Finally getting around to cleaning my IMRC plates and intake ports. Question: Is it OK to use carb cleaner on the lower intake manifold? It looks like it's put together with some kind of epoxy or something. I'm afraid the carb cleaner will eat this stuff up.

Mach stereo with aftermarket head unit, no bass...

I didn't notice that in the picture. My 97 had the head unit ripped out and a woofer box in the trunk when I bought it so I don't know what the original configuration was. It sure seems like they would have put some sort of subwoofer in the trunk from the factory because the rear speakers were...

Mach stereo with aftermarket head unit, no bass...

Assuming this website is correct you should have subwoofers in the trunk. If they were removed then you won't have much bass, especially in a convertible. Mach 460 Information

    HESITATION - 96 cobra

Ditto on the IMRCs. A cable could be bend/frayed/ or popped off. The IMRC technology is great but the engineering could have been better back in the 90s. It may or may not throw a code depending on the situation. For example: If one cable broke or popped off, NO code, just runs like crap...

Where can I get coolant bypass O-rings

You are correct about the part number 391533-S100. The dealership I called didn't have any in stock but several other Ford dealers in town had 1 in stock. Of course I need 2 :D BTW, What's the difference between a standard part number and a normal part number?

    HELP, No more high RPM

FYI for 96-98 Cobra owners Got my new fuel pump this week from Rock Auto. 255 LPH Carter, actually a Walbro. Came with everything, all seals etc. Might have time this weekend to install it BUT... After nosing around a little bit under the hood I noticed the left IMRC cable had removed...

    Noisy Serpentine Belt

Bump on the mis-alignment.! There's a pulley that's just a hair out. That will make a belt squeak/chirp. It's probably NOT the tentioner or a pulley on the back side. My guess is the AC compressor pulley. Even though your air might be working fine, the pulley might be a tick off due to a...

    HELP, No more high RPM

Got a replacement alternator. Installed it and it seems to charge well. I still need to put the strut brace back on to seal up the job. Fuel pump is next. -Steve-

    HELP, No more high RPM

I agree about the remanufactured alternator. They replace the bearings but the voltage regulator, rectifier, and windings are probably not replaced unless they are bad. So that means that even though it's a 2 year old alternator, the electronics inside could be 10 years old.

    HELP, No more high RPM

My cars are falling apart.! This morning my trusty truck had a flat tire. I mean flat on the rim flat so I decided to drive the Cobra to work. It runs fine under 5 grand so I figured it would be OK. After work I had to run some errands around town and after it heated up the voltage...

    HELP, No more high RPM

You can clean the top end with a product like Sea Foam but I doubt it will do much for the IMRCs. Plus, They say it's O2 sensor safe, but beware! Shoob, I cleaned the MAF sensor a while back, installed a new K&N and buttoned everything up tight. Who knows. I've ordered a new fuel pump so...

    HELP, No more high RPM

No trouble codes. I would rather change the fuel pump than tear off the intake and clean the IMRCs. It certainly sounds like a fuel pump issue. Like I said in the initial post, it seems like the IMRCs kick in and then it falls over around 5000 and spits and sputters like it's out of fuel...

    HELP, No more high RPM

I have a 1997 Cobra with a few engine mods. C&L inlet pipe, CAI, Flowmasters, high flow cats, that's about it. It ran great last year but this spring I have nothing over 5000. The hit is still there around 3500 (IMRC) but then it just peters out and sputters. Any suggestions? The engine has...
