    orange painted block

    I have just pulled the motor out and stripped it down (1965 289) ... behind the flywheel it is painted bright orange which looks original ... in fact the whole motor shows traces of orange paint. I thought the 289 was either black or a couple of different shades of blue ... any ideas

    piston broke.

    I have just removed the rods and pistons from my 65 f/b and found 2 top rings broken and five cracked pistons .. on the skirts ... one really bad one that goes up to the rings and you can see daylight through!! I was going to measure the bores for taper, but I assume that it will need reboring...
