    1.7's....

well ive never measured anything to see for myself that it changes but i had this conversation a little over a year ago with an engine builder who has built engines for nascar teams for 25 years, and with a nascar head porting guy and both of them agreed that it does change.

I can't pull the KOER codes

seems to me like the koeo codes have to be fixed before it will run koer codes. or you have to make sure you hit the brake, turn the steering wheel, and cycle the o/d off button for it to go through the entire process. if i remember correctly i couldnt ever get my car to do koer codes either...

    # 8 cyl??? PICS

well worst case scenario is your head or block cracked in a oil galley and dumped oil into the cylinder. youre gonna have to figure out where this oil is coming from. best bet would be to do a compression check on that cylinder and the one next to it. and do a leak down test on that cylinder...

built my own valve covers come check them out!

wow...those things look nice. and i especially like those welds. did you do them yourself? they look pretty damn professional to me. i can tig weld steel but aluminum is a little more tricky. ps. if you ever want to make big bucks tig welding (especially aluminum) move down to mooresville...

    1.7's....

the thing about 1.7 vs 1.6 rockers is that with 1.7 rockers the valve opens much faster and closes much faster than with 1.6 rockers. so in the real world the valve is coming closer to the piston and sooner than it is with 1.6 rockers. duration does change a little but like said before very...

    Still missing :(

sounds like the engine runs a little warmer than normal or there is carbon buildup in the combustion chamber....try running some engine cleaner through the gas tank...like lucas or seafoam and see if that helps the car at all.

I know i ask to many questions. I WANT TO BE COLD

everyone is right about putting a t-stat back in it and getting a better radiator. one thing that was not mentioned was engine wear due to lack of heat allowed to build up. ive seen studies were they ran engines at 150-160 degrees and cylinder wall wear was dramatically increased as opposed to...

    Need help with transmission...

yeah....like said above that is not a tranny you want to rebuild on your own. for starters the unit weighs probably 300 pounds and if you ask me i dont want to be laying on my back trying to get that thing out. e40ds are pretty simple trannys but jenns01ta is right you dont want to try it for...

    ? ASAP about dipstick

i seriously doubt you will lose any oil out of the dipstick and if anything it will just be a vacuum leak....since the pcv valve pulls on the crankcase and the dipstick isnt there to plug the hole....but you should be fine until you replace it

Required tools to change a starter on a 1998 Isuzu Trooper:

you think doing the starter is bad you should try pulling the transmission out. we had a problem with those 4L30E transmissions smoking the band and our builder couldnt figure out the problem (i work at AAMCO) so i had to r&r a two different 4x4 isuzu poopers 3 different time until we finally...

    Perhaps help with GM ignition???

hei distributors are pretty solid for what you are doing. but dont ever go to a points style distributor. that would be like taking off the carburetor and going to mechanical fuel injection....its a step backwards as far as technology goes. if anything get a points style distrIbutor and...

Help a stanger with Suburban problems???

youre going to have to get up under the car and look for a little rubber line coming out of the floor pan. usually rear a/c components are going to be all the way in the back on one side or the other. good luck. ps. timeless you have a bug in your sig. just thought i would tell you so it...

Taurus fan into Grand Cherokee w/ 5.9L ?

not trying to step on your toes here but to measure current he would have to disconnect the fan and run a jumper from the ground side to the plug and run the positive side through the meter...which could be bad for the meter (well the fuse in the meter). most dvom's only allow a 10 amp current...
