    2005 stock dyno numbers 279rwhp 300TQ

I like the analyis, however, I thought it was the torque that provided the acceleration. Do the numbers still hold at 6250 shift point vs 5250? Note that torgque drops from the 275-300 ft/lb range to the 200-250 ft-lb range from 5500-6250 rpm

    updated drag strip #s

There is another post on this board about an dyno result on the 05 GT. IT appears that the power falls off at about 5250 RPM. Does this suggest a better time if short shifted just over 5000 RPM? Also, what is the optimal launch RPM around 2800RPM or 4000 RPM?

    2005 stock dyno numbers 279rwhp 300TQ

I reiterate my question: Given the power fall off just after 5000 rpm, what is the optimal shift point on the new 05 GT to get the quickest acceleration? Also, what is the optimal lauch RPM?

Dont have to worry about 05 GT highway speed

I understand that the GT stang will run 143 mph before the speed limiter kicks in.

    Another Dealer taking advantage....

Fortunately I dealt with a fair dealer in NY that I had done previous business with. "Bob" placed my order back in May and I just picked up my 05 GT last Friday. I thought that the $1000 over dealer invoice was fair given that this was the very first car this dealer ordered and received. IMHO...

    2005 stock dyno numbers 279rwhp 300TQ

Given the dyno data, what's the optimal shift point with the 5 speed manual to maximize acceleration?

Dont have to worry about 05 GT highway speed

I've only gunned my 05 GT up to 90 MPH. I do love the sound under my heavy foot. I also love the "fade away" when I back off a bit. The overall power is awesome. Can someone get us the REAL hp figure, not the lowball 300 hp quoted by Ford?

    Another positive European review :)))

Nice review except for the fact that the ASR do not have to be turned off to get wheelspin. I can spin the wheels in my 05 GT with the traction control on and I also get rubber in 2nd gear. Did they really test this car? One wonders with that BS line.

    Current '05 owners, opinion?

Don't worry about the oil in this car. It comes with synthetic from the factory. As they say, break it in like you're gunna drive it! PS: Got mine on Friday and put 100 miles on it so far. I love this car!

Got my 05 GT Stang Today

I need some help in posting the pictures. They are all up on Snapfish, but to post them here they need to be small - less than 78kb. How can I take the larger pictures and thin them out?

    Premium Fuel?

It is interesting that my Ford Mustang GT owners manual states that Premium Fuel should not be used because it could increase rough idle, etc. Stick to regular and don't use any additives.

Got my 05 GT Stang Today

It's finally here - the first 05 stang delivered to Mahopac, NY. When I got to the dealer, it was out front with all of the dealer folks just in awe. The engine and exhaust sound awesome. I just took it home and will run it a bit tomorrow.

Whats up witht he new GT tires size?

Ford also wanted to make the 05 Stang perform much better in light snow. The narrower tire accomplishes this. In addtion to the other remarks in this thread about better off line traction, etc, Ford wanted to be able to sell more cars in the Northeast. I live just 40 minutes north of NYC and...

    05 GT 1/8th mile video

Look carefully at the video . The "other" vehicle appears to be a pickup truck.

Another positive review - USA Today

Well, I'm 45 and I love the 05 Stang. My Red GT premium was ordered on the first day. My last V-8 powered car was an Infiniti Q45. I'n addition to my new Stang, I'll be keeping my Audi all wheel drive vehicle for the snow and rain.

    Manual v Automatic question...

Leaning to drive a manual with this car will be simple. The engine produces so much torque that all you need to do to get moving on a level surface is slowly release the clutch with the engine at idle. The car will move forward and will not stall even though you are not giving it any gas. Once...

    05 CA Emission Issues

I ordered my car on the 2nd day possible. I checked with my dealer today on a build and delivery date. He indicated that there is an issue with CA emissions which also apply to cars destined for delivery to NY. Does anyone know what is going on? What's the issue and the delay?

Got my production date and VIN!!!!

The interesting thing is that when I originally placed the order, I requested the Parchment Leather interior. After about 3 sleepless weeks, I went back to the dealer and had them change it on-line to the upgraded Red Leather interior.
