Trick Flow Top End Kit - Summit Racing - TFS-K514-350-370 - What do you think?

That sounds very similar to what the previous owner did to my '89 vert. He claimed 350hp (I didn't ask if he meant rwhp or crankshaft) but the car feels like it's putting down between 280-300rwhp. I very much like the way my car drives--it's kinda weak down low, but in the upper revs, the...

    Shifter or tranny at fault?

When I downshift from second to first while rolling (this happens often since I have tall factory 2.73 gears), the tranny grinds. If I push the shifter towards first and give it a split second to let the synchros kick in, I get a nice, grind-free downshift. I also occasionally notice a bit of...

how good is the stock clutch?

I put a Centerforce DF in my '93 LX and like it just fine. Easy pedal effort, good grip. I only had the car for a few thousand miles after I put the clutch in it but I had no problems with it. My Fiero has had a Centerforce DF in it for the last 15K miles too, with light pedal effort and good...

how good is the stock clutch?

What did that cost you, like $500? I always assumed that NAPA parts were better than the stuff from Autozone or some other autoparts store, but my experience has proved that they're just overpriced, not any better. No offense or anything--I just won't give NAPA any more of my money.

how good is the stock clutch?

I've got a King Cobra clutch installed (thanks to the previous owner) and a TriAx shifter on the way. So what's the tranny of choice once the factory tranny grenades itself?

    Roll Bars for daily drivers

I like the idea of a roll cage. Having a convertible makes chassis stiffness more of an issue that it does for you hardtop guys. I've got a strut-tower brace, k-member brace, and full-length subframe connectors on the way, hopefully installed by next weekend. So I'm curious on the initial...

Is a 5.0 from a 1985 Lincoln LSC of any value?

I dunno about the Ford TBI motors, but the GM TBI motors sucked compared to their port fuel injected counterparts. Unless you just need a cheap motor, I'd stay away from the LSC engines.

Car never gets past 130*, even when hammering

I concur with the "stuck-open stat" diagnosis. Replace your stat and then, if you still have problems, play around with gauges.

    H/C/I or s/c???

I've already got H/C/I. What are ya gonna say when I strap a Vortech SC-trim on my motor and put down over 400rwhp. Is it gonna be something like "I can beat you with my 250hp car because you don't have enough traction, nyah nyah!!!!" ?

    Which gears to get?

The numbers I posted are based off the corral.net gear calculator and jive with the RPM and speed readings I've noticed while driving my own car. I can't speak for your car, but they work for mine. Keep in mind that corral.net lists several different transmissions, so you may not have the...

Want To Knock On 350hp's Door

Supposedly the Vortech V2 SQ-trim kit adds 126hp to an otherwise stock 302. ( http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/products/yourcar/86-93mustang_ho.html ) Assuming that your 302 is putting 190hp to the wheels, that would put you at 316rwhp. Or you could go with the SQ kit with an aftercooler...

Thinking about a cam with my heads and intake, want to know what it entails.

I'm perusing the stack of receipts that the previous owner of my Stang left me. Among other numerous bolt-ons, it has: GT40X aluminum heads GT40 intake Ford Stage I roller cam (according to the Summit receipt, at least) 1.7:1 roller rockers I don't know if the cam is the F-cam, but I...

    Which gears to get?

My traction surely isn't as good as yours, but I bet it's a good bit better than you think. You sure are getting fired up about this. :D

    Which gears to get?

    Car 1: 12lbs/hp Car 2: 15.25lbs/hp Tell you what, forget $20. Make it $100.

    Which gears to get?

Well, go to the link on the first page with the gear ratio calculator and put in your tire size. My numbers are assuming 225/55R16 tires. But yeah, you probably have 3.55s.

    Which gears to get?

How 'bout a friendly wager, then? I'd pay $20 to get spanked by a 3050lb Stang with a bone-stock 5.0. :D Man, if it wasn't the dead of winter, I'd go to the track tomorrow just so I could come back here and wave some numbers around. :p

    Which gears to get?

Traction problems, as in, if I go WOT, the tach jumps up to redline pretty quick. If I'm smart on with the throttle, I can get through first with about 2/3s throttle and minimal tire spin. Once I hit second, I can go foot-to-the-floor with no more spinnage. I have drag raced before. I've...

    Which gears to get?

Assuming the following: 3.73s, 3050lbs, drag setup, 200rwhp 2.73s, 3600ishlbs, stock suspension, 300rwhp I'll concede that you'll get me out of the hole, no problem. But I'll reel you back in before the end of the 1/4 mile.

    Which gears to get?

Let me restate this: I've run my car up to over 5000rpm (indicated, on the stock tach) in 4th gear with 2.73s, and it was still pulling strong. Even given that the stock tach is optimistic, I have no doubt that the car will pull all the way to redline in 4th. With 3.55s, 5th gear is a...

    Which gears to get?

Nope, haven't been to the strip with it. I picked up the car last Tuesday. Rest assured that once the weather warms up a bit, I'm going to round up a few buddies and head to the 1/4 mile track at Gateway International. I do, however, think that I could hit high 13s as-is, right now, if not...
