Does anyone know wtf this is?

I was going to say it was to remind someone to "do" something while they were working on your car.. By the looks of it, they may have remembered... JT

    Gears

I've been advised it's best to just rebuild the entire rear end (re-shim, re-bearing, new seals) while you're doing the gears for a few reasons.. - You're going to have everything out anyway - Cheap insurance for a worthy investment - Better to optimize the new set-up. There are too...

    Lean/Rich Question

The problem w/ using some of the Injector/Fuel System cleaner is it usually takes a tank or 2 to really do the job... They do work though... It'd be a good idea to replace the fuel filter just for sh-ts and giggles... I just don't see how a PCV would cause Oil contamination (fuel)...

    Lean/Rich Question

I was reading this a moment ago, and thought of something... Do you know that your injectors are performing correctly?? I had an issue on a car my parents owned.. They had 2 injectors of 6 go bad slowly.. One of them, the pintle was sticking open, so it was dumping serious amounts of fuel...

    Carbon Fiber ds

I don't know about driveshafts being a waste of money.. I've been able to get rid of some bad driveline vibrations by going to an aluminum D/S on my 87 GT... I've been told by some reputable drivetrains guys that going to a lightweight D/S is more beneficial than most people give it credit...

    shocks and struts...

Wow, Thanks.. I didn't realize that this seems to be the benchmark for Mustang day-to-day suspension... I've got a good idea of what I'm going to use now... Thanks for the info.. Once again, sorry for the Hi-jack.. JT

    shocks and struts...

Ahh, okay. I understand now.. It's good that I'm getting this info now... Regardless of how much I've been reading regarding suspensions, I haven't really found a all around "best," set up.. I like the adjustability, but since I don't really plan on Road Racing this car, unlike my last 2...

    shocks and struts...

Is it me, or does no one use Koni's for their Mustang?? I've used them on several cars, and I couldn't have been happier... I don't know what they're like on the Mustang... Are they just too expensive for most?? I had 1 set that lasted 4 years of New England winters (They were the Yellows...

car slammed on curb.. possible damage?

Also, did they check your tie-rods well?? When I was sort-of T-boned last winter, which forced me into a curb and broke a bunch of body stuff (who woulda though?), it cracked my inner tie-rod, and destroyed the boot on the outer.. Could really tell until you got the inner out of the car...

Acetone in fuel said to increase mileage...

Well, to answer your question about the gas savings, you really only using an ounce or 2 per gas tank. 128oz in a gallon, therefore, you could get from 64-128 tanks out of a can of Acetone, and if you saved, say 40-50mpt, then you can finish the math... It will save money over time, but is...

    NEED HELP. please advise

I've always been taught to re-torque the lugnuts when the car's on the ground, since it re-centers the rim on the studs, and basically places the rim directly on the hub... Not to say that's write, but I think it's also in the FSM.. 170gm's is ridiculous though.. JT

    NEED HELP. please advise

What about a warped rim, or the fact it might have thrown one of the many weights you had on the rim off?? Also, did you remember to re-torque your lugs after you put the car back on the ground?? JT

Need opinion on this motor prob.

Burning Coolant = Whitish smoke/steam from exhaust = 99% of the time it's a Headgasket (chances are w/ the age of your car) The only other times it will burn coolant is either a crack/leak into the intake manifold (you'll DEFINITELY know this one), or a crack/leak in a water passage in...

    Tailshaft seal replacement

Thankfully, the fluid doesn't come out THAT fast, but it does drip... Since the seal is larger than most people have sockets for, you can also use a small piece of wood, or hard plastic that covers the entire seal.. Just beat on in med. hits, evenly around... I had thought of this...

    ATTN:Rear End Specialist

I realize the Mazda is a Ranger, but some of them came w/ the 7.5", not the 8.8 and I thought that the 7.5's came w/ the vent tube.. JT

    ATTN:Rear End Specialist

I don't know.. Does the Mazda have the 8.8?? I'd have a tough time testing it though, since you'd have 1 of 2 things happen: - It could work, and you may not need to purchase a new vent valve (sort of unlikely) - It could fail, and you spew a few quarts of gear oil all over the...

Cobra brake upgrade, what went wrong?

The good news is though, all you need to do is resurface them at this point, but it'd be best to use a dial indicator if at all possible. This would rule out having to maybe turn them completely... I wonder if the pads are glazed too soon?? Maybe I missed it, but what kind of Pads did...

    automatics guys please read!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm actually pretty excited about tonight. If the weather holds off, I FINALLY get to run my car legally (No, not street racing, but a few "spirited runs"), for the first time ever. I've owned the car for nearly 4 years, but w/ the combination of not living near a track in FL, and now...

Cobra brake upgrade, what went wrong?

True about the temperment w/ speed, but it could have prematurely warped his rotors.. ;) JT

Cobra brake upgrade, what went wrong?

The thing is though, if he's only getting the sensation between a certain window of MPH, I'd rule out warped rotors.. I've never had a set of warped rotors that were tempermental w/ speed. Did you correctly torque your wheel lugs when you put everything back together?? JT
