Best pressure for BFG Drag Radials at track??

Problem is, there's only another 75 pounds or so more I can get out of it. If it was a coupe it would weigh under 2900 at this point. Oh well, I'm the dummy that built a vert for a drag car.

Best pressure for BFG Drag Radials at track??

I launch at 5000-5500 (depending on track conditions) off a 2-step. I hold at about 3/4 throttle on the 2-step as the tree comes down then dump the clutch and floor it on the launch.

Low dyno numbers from a built 5.0...

Yep, it's all there. Stock GT cam. The Cobra cam is slightly different. A little less duration (208-209) and a little more lift (.451 w/ 1.6s).

Best pressure for BFG Drag Radials at track??

I run 10-11 psi cold, which ends up being around 12 psi hot. Yes, they'll hook. I launch at about 5200 rpm and get high 1.5s and low 1.6s on 275/50-15s. 2700lbs??!!! I hate you. :) My fat pig still weighs about 3050 w/o me! Damn fat vert.

    Drag radial tires????'s

The tire in the picture is a 275/60-15 BFG DR. The tread pattern is different than the 275/50-15. If you want to run a BFG DR on stock 7" rims, get the 235/60-15. It'll fit the rim much better. Also, it's a 26" tire which will be much better for you with stock gears. The 275/60 is a 28"...

    Nitto 555R -- vs -- T/A DR's in the rain

How do you figure that? Nitto DRs are fine in the rain as long as you don't drive like an idiot. BFGs are kinda scary in the rain though. On dry pavement DRs are safer than a regular radial.

I want 12's on the motor, and 11's on the bottle. Please Help me decide

You should stick with TFS TW heads since you have the TFS pistons. The valve reliefs in those pistons will only fit TWs.

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

Yeah, I'll definitely post the results when I do it. Hopefully this weekend. Probably should have done it a while ago but I never thought about it. It's an interesting thing to think about. Would a 50 degree difference at the filter result in a 50 degree difference at the ACT?

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

I was thinking about doing the same thing myself. :) You're a man of action! :hail2: I doubt I would have that large a swing because I'm sure I get a LOT more airflow through my engine compartment than you do. I still have an old Moroso cold air kit in my garage so I'll try to make...

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

Yeah, the theory is pretty obvious. It's mainly a question of how much cooler the air you're pulling with a kit really is. In my specific case, I don't believe there's much, if anything, to be gained by putting the filter in the fender. Other experiences may vary.

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

I guess this would be a discussion for another time and place, but I run an open filter under the hood and have never had any problems with it. I also have a cowl hood and a very open engine compartment that gets a lot more air flow than the usual cramped Mustang engine compartment. That...

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

Yep, the filter bolts to the meter as it does on the 90mm Lightning meter. So it won't work on some applications w/o some fab work.

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

The Bullet has a crappy flimsy sampling tube. The 80 has a much more solid precise sampling tube. Also, on the shorty 80 the sampling tube extends into the conical filter allowing it to get a more accurate sample versus a tube that only samples the flow at the top of the meter housing. This...

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

Actually, the Pro-M 80 should help driveability because it's a much more accurate and better designed meter than the 75mm Bullet. The size difference won't affect driveability.

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

It's a "glass half empty or half full" question. I see it the other way. When choosing between two injectors sizes, I always pick the larger since there's no downside to running the larger injector. Then I have more room to grow (I upgrade my setup relatively frequently) and a little factor...

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

Pro-M makes nice meters but their tech frequently leaves a lot to be desired. For example, they used to (maybe still do) have a tech article on their site supporting the dumbest internet myth of all time...yes...the famous "distributor off a tooth" myth. Most knowledgable tuners...

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

I am admittedly pretty clueless when it comes to any modular motor Mustang so I don't have any idea what the answer is there. I'm sure they could have had multiple reasons for that choice. For an example in the other direction, why did Ford put 24s in the 93 Cobra? That's a VERY mild motor...

Is the 80 mm Pro-m mass air too big??

As has already been said, the Pro-M 80mm is a much better meter than the 75mm Bullet. 30s will be absolutely fine for that motor. All the "problems" caused by larger injectors are 95% internet myth. Larger injectors *can* cause an idle surge IF you use a crappy meter. Run a Pro-M 80 and...
