    spark plug question-now i'm confused

Copper plugs are fine, better to buy cheap plugs and be able to replace them more often if you need to. Autolites seem to work well. I went with Taylor wires and an MSD cap. The cap has brass terminals and the wires seem to be very well made, so I don't mind paying a little bit more. I'm sure...

Need Help... Removing stuck ball joint?

Hissin, is the press you have made by OEM? The one I rented only came with 2 adapter bushings and 3 sleeves... like this: I wonder if it might have been missing some parts... That piece second from the right on the bottom row in wythors' pic almost looks like what I would have needed to make...

Need Help... Removing stuck ball joint?

Looks like the press I rented from autozone is just a little too short to fit over the ball joint... :bang: Hopefully shucks will have one that's a little bigger, I see how this would work, if only it would fit over the ball joint with the correct adapters...

Need Help... Removing stuck ball joint?

Doh, I didn't realize the press was used to remove them as well. I thought it was only for installation. I've already rented one so I'll go and see if it works. :D

Need Help... Removing stuck ball joint?

I'm trying to replace the driver side ball joint on my car but I can't seem to get it out of the a-arm. It should be able to be forced downwards out of the a-arm, correct? I've tried hitting it with a big hammer both on the 'flange' area and on the top of the threaded stud, and it's actually not...

Safe spring removal? And how to check front end for wear?

Figured as much. I guess I'll have to do some hunting for the disc brake stuff in the small cartridges...

Safe spring removal? And how to check front end for wear?

oops, meant to edit my previous post. do I need to use high-temp "disc brake" grease on the wheel bearings? or will the all-purpose stuff that came with my grease gun be fine? I do tend to get on the brakes pretty hard sometimes... :D

Safe spring removal? And how to check front end for wear?

Good to hear, I was pretty much assuming all of what you said... I bought a nice bumpsteer kit and all the poly bushings so hopefully the inner tie rods & rack are still decent. If I'm going to replace them I might as well get a manual rack, but that's $$$... I do have some bumpsteer issues...

Safe spring removal? And how to check front end for wear?

So I'm replacing my front control arm bushings and I'm not really sure what's the best method to remove my stock springs. I can't seem to find a spring compressor that will fit them. I've heard of chaining the springs to the crossmember and then just using a big prybar to wrestle them out. I've...

    Which Portland Alignment Shop?

I need to get my car aligned soon since it's pretty far off right now. It does have a bumpsteer kit on it as well so I'm kind of wary of just going to les schwab or the like... What's a good shop in the Portland area that is familiar with mustangs and will be able to do a "performance"...

    Painted calipers?

I'd go with black, I think it'd look a lot cleaner. I only like red calipers when they come that way from the factory... and even then they just stand out too much on some cars. I used gloss black dupli-color high temp engine paint on my last car... it holds up well, looks good, and brake dust...

Auto Battery & Electric... good alternators?

Those look really nice, but they're $70 more... :\

Auto Battery & Electric... good alternators?

Has anyone dealt with Auto Battery & Electric in Portland? They quoted me about $130 for a 130 amp 3g alternator, which seems pretty good... I believe it was a rebuilt unit but it looked like a high quality piece as far as I could tell. Anyone know if their alternators are any good? I was...

Where to rent an air compressor in Portland?

Anyone know of a cheap place in Portland to rent an air compressor and impact gun for a day or two? Everywhere I've called has been pretty expensive... I suppose it'd make a lot more sense to just buy one but I can't really afford it right now. I just want to replace my a-arm bushings... from...

Mufflers, yes, this question has been asked forever....

Hmm... some interesting ideas in this thread. :D You didn't really mention what kind of sound you're looking for, or what the rest of your setup will be... so it's kind of hard to give specific advice. I like my Mac's with stock shorties and an off road H, it's fairly loud with a deep tone...
