    Car weight with aluminum block.

Thanks for asking--I don't mean to take us off topic. I am close--had to finish the 73 and then decided to sell it, finishing the 73 took longer than planned to get it "done", selling was painless though, just took it to Pomona twice! With the 69, I wanted the TCP's on before going on the...

    Car weight with aluminum block.

I remember you showing me the IRS when I picked up the rotisserie--I wonder how much more the IRS weighs than the standard suspension? Is there a much heftier crossmember with the MII front suspension as well? I installed the TCP setup with the crossbrace and that stuff is probably a trade out...

Insurance wants me to find a body shop in sandiego for the 67' poor baby :(

You are a claimant. The insurance company has NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to tell you what to do. You can go where you want, when you want and get it fixed. The contract with the insurer was with the guy that hit you--he has some agreements with his insurance company. You cannot be held to terms you...

    Ouch!!!!

I will make you feel better, I dropped a toploader 4 speed on my hand. That "whoops" required surgery. :(

Template is 0.020" off - is that a big deal?

I made my own Shelby drop template tonight. After rechecking the "new" holes on the template, one is .020" off from the other one. Basically one hole is slightly lower than the other hole. That isn't a lot, do you think that would be a problem or should I make a new template? (Sorry, but...

    73 Mustang Motor Mounts?

I had a similar problem with my 73--I found that the early mounts, while visually different do fit. Someone needs to repro the 73 mounts as it is a fully encapsulated design and would be better. But I just put earlier style mounts on my car with no problems.

Harsh gear change on a FMX box

Harsh? When my 69 had an FMX, after installing a shift kit it would get rubber going into second gear. I considered the shifts firm even at full throttle, but not harsh. It would bark the tires while rolling in first at about 25mph when opening the secondaries on the carb too--I kind of liked...

    New Mustang Bodies/Shells

Well, I am going on record as still being skeptical about the quality. I did see the Camaro with my own eyes. If the original Camaros were worse than that new, well, no way--I have seen original Camaros that weren't restored that are not even close to that bad. I will withhold judgement...

    67-68 radiator support in a 66??

Just for fun I think I will put 65-66 shock towers in my '69--I really love the sexy curvey look of them. Has anyone done that?   :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh: Seriously though: Dennis, When I read the first post I thought 'what the heck is he trying to do and...

    New Mustang Bodies/Shells

While I am not old enough the have remembered or cared at the time, the first steel bodied reproduction 32 Fords years ago were supposedly of poor quality. Today, there are many to choose from with varying quality levels and improvements to the original design. I myself have slammed...

Anybody have the Shelby Drop template & bit?

Does anyone have one of the Shelby drop templates and drill bits that I could rent or borrow? I have a paper template that I could apply, but I don't want to be "off" when I do this as there is only one chance to get it right! I have drill bits up to 1/2", but as you know this needs to go...

1969 Mustang Clutch Pedal set questions

You can buy the power brake, manual transmission brake pedal new from most Mustang vendors. The clutch pedal is the hard one to get and as I understand is only available used. You can reuse your original pedal support as they are the same. There is a small bolt on braket and spring that go...

    PU mounts and the shakes?

Wow, interested to hear others feedback on this. I was/am considering buying the same set. The other interesting thing is the price at Summit ($131). Just today I got an email from CJ Pony for an "inventory blowout" on the same part at nearly $170!!! What got me looking at this today was...

    64 1/2 d code

I did a 64 1/2 Convertible a few years ago with the D code 289. It is a low compression 4 barrel. In my opinion, absolutely more valuable than a 2 barrel 289. It is my understanding, and I could be mistaken here, that in 1965 they introduce the A code 289 4 barrell that was higher...

    Valve grime - Ideas please

It is my understanding that water injected will clean the cylinder head surface of carbon through the combustion process, I don't see how it would clean the intake valves stem-side as that is not in the combustion area.

VIN Stamped Block Into Original Stang Worth Reinstalling?

I recently bought another car, a 72 Mach 1. With it came the original block and it is stamped on the left rear side with the VIN number. I have personnally verified the number/match. The car is an "H" code 351 Cleveland 2 barrel, automatic, tach, fold down, A/C, console, etc. The car...

Car Dying On Freeway And Power Loss

Most likely it is your fuel pressure regulator. That sits right on the fuel rail and controls how much fuel pressure their is. Has happened to me on both my 86 GT and my F150. I would start there before replacing anything. Someone said check your fuel pressure--do that if you can. If you...
