    gt40p explorer intake

Glad to hear you don't have any problems. I beg to differ on one point though. The ACT sensor absolutely WILL see a much cooler temp in the intake track than the lower manifold. Fresh cool air is rushing past the ACT sensor in the intake track. Touch the air intake tube with your hand, then...

    spark plugs

Most people say autolites are the best plugs for our cars. I've heard a few people say good things about NGK as well. Read down a few posts. There is another post about plugs/wires.

    gt40p explorer intake

Just a question.......when you move the ACT sensor to the intake track, the temperatures it sees are going to be alot lower than if it was located in the lower intake manifold. This will screwup your a/f ratio because the computer is expecting to see higher temps from the ACT sensor when the...

Do i have options or do I have to buy a rag joint from FORD?

There are 2 possible points of play on the lower steering shaft. One is the lower rag joint by the U-joint. The second is the rubber bushing halfway along the lower steering shaft where the inner shaft slides inside the outer shaft. That rubber bushing was totally shot on my car allowing the...

OK, I cleaned TB, IAC & MAF and still got idle problems, what's next????

The ACT sensor screws into the air intake tube (big black rubber tube), right after the MAF sensor and the air filter box. It's right on top of the tube with a wire plugged into it. You can't miss it. It is quite cheap at NAPA. Under $25 I think. Remember to disconnect your battery for...

OK, I cleaned TB, IAC & MAF and still got idle problems, what's next????

bjl I'm glad that worked for you. With a resistor, the PCM is going to think the incoming air is always the same temp. It just seems to me like that may cause more problems than it solves. I don't think that would work here in Canada......OAT as low as -35 C in the winter and +35 C in...

OK, I cleaned TB, IAC & MAF and still got idle problems, what's next????

Why not just buy a new ACT sensor from autozone or napa? You're ACT sensor was the problem. Cheers

    Idle issues

What codes did you get? When you "cleared the codes", did you correct the problems that the codes were showing? Did you disconnect the battery for a minimum of 5 minutes after replacing the IAB valve? When was the last time you cleaned your MAF sensor? A dirty sensor will cause idle...

    how to read error codes?

I've heard that places like Walmart sell a code reader for under $50. Never looked for myself though. For me, using a paperclip and counting the CEL flashes works very well. Tweecer is used to change the pre-programmed settings in your car's computer. Usually used by guys with alot of...

idle issues and sudden bucks!! please help

I'm pretty sure an OBDII scanner won't work. Read the following link on how to check codes; http://fordfuelinjection.com/selftest.html Then find a paperclip and check them yourself! Cheers

LOL. I made my post after VibrantRed's and it shows up ahead of his? LOL weird!

    Snap crackle pop......

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't popping/backfiring indicate a rich condition and bucking/hesitation indicate a lean condition? My car pops a little bit when I take my foot off the gas for the first minute after a cold start. Goes away very quickly as car starts to warm up.

    Hydraulic clutch in our cars?

In my opinion, a hydraulic clutch is just one more place for an oil leak! :nonono: I had an old toyota and an 88 T-bird Turbo Coupe, both with hydraulic clutches. The clutches on both cars felt wierd, leaked oil, and were generally a pita (esecially when the M/C seals go and you have to drive...

    Missing bad please help

You should really do a search on how to check codes. It can be done in about 2 minutes with a paperclip. This has been covered numerous times before. http://www.corral.net/tech/maintenance/eecivtest.html

    Missing bad please help

Ahhh. That is an important piece of the puzzle. I'm assuming you installed the heads/cam/inake/headers while the car was apart? Something has obviously changed since you installed the new parts. If the wires/cap/rotor check out ok, make sure you ARE getting spark at the cylinders that don't...

    Missing bad please help

You didn't mention it, so i will. The FIRST thing that I would check on a car that has your symptoms would be the plug wires and the cap/rotor....start with the simple/easy things first. Plug wires can look fine externally, but be completely broken down internally.....especially if they're...

why my car ping sometime ???????

It doesn't have to be THAT long, but that would definitely work if you're not going out tonight.

why my car ping sometime ???????

Clean your MAF meter really well. Also unplug your battery for at least 30 minutes after doing the above tuneup to reset your computer.

    engine noise comming through speakers

Make sure your coil wire is attached securely. Mine was a little loose and created alot of static on the FM band. Tightened up the connector and the problem disappeared.
