    Confused about track times.

Yes you really need to look at the density altitude (DA) to gauge how it has affected engine HP output. As bhuff30 asked what was you MPH on the previous runs?

do i need a new fuel pump?

24lb injectors should be good for 365 HP at 95% duty cycle and .5 BSFC

    1/4 times

100 shot and slicks should run 13.2 to 13.3 with a good driver.

max lift on stock valve springs?

I do not know what max. lift on a stock valve springs is. But remember that just because a cam you are looking at has a lift may work does not mean the cam will work with the stock springs. You need to know how much seat and open pressure the cam needs verses what the stock springs have.

How much can a stock motor take?

600 FWHP should push your 3700 pound car with driver to a 9.0 second 1000 foot run. This is at sea level and with the car able to launch and use all of the HP, this maybe as hard as building the HP.

Biggest shot of Nitrous on stock motor

Sorry there is no calculator for this on the web site. Because a xx HP shot will produce that HP increase at most RPM you can convert xx HP at any RPM to see what the torque increase will be.

Biggest shot of Nitrous on stock motor

What is the minimum RPM that you will spray at? 100 HP shoot at 2500 RPM will be around 500 ftlbs of torque 150 HP shoot at 3500 RPM will be around 510 ftlbs of torque 190 HP shoot at 4500 RPM will be around 510 ftlbs of torque The lower the RPM the higher the max torque that will be produced...

How to use a piston stop for TDC?

If by PM you mean Personal Message on this Forum? I have not received any.

How to use a piston stop for TDC?

REMOVE this line from Comp cams (this is determined by adding the two points on the degree wheel together, then dividing by 2) Step 4: Remove the piston stop after marking the two points on the degree wheel. Rotate the crankshaft to the midpoint of the two marks. Added by me: the midpoint...

How to use a piston stop for TDC?

    When you get done you should have 40 and 40 with 0 in-between being TDC. 40 0 40 \ | / \ | / \ | / \|/

How to use a piston stop for TDC?

Maybe because I have done this many time, I do not read the above the same as you. To me they are saying the same thing. here is an example. If when I do the above procedure i have 35 degrees on one side and 45 degrees. I would move the pointer from zero to 5 degrees on the side that had 45...

going to the track tomorrow night

Unless there is a physical reason that your engine can not rev pass peak HP then you will run faster by revving pass peak HP. How high you should rev depends on the shape of the HP curve and how far the RPM's drop when you shift gears.

How to use a piston stop for TDC?

Other than when the positive piston stop is removed what is the difference in the two methods? Once you have the two reads and set the pointer or degree wheel to zero for TDC, I normally go through the procedure again to make sure I have it zeroed correctly.

    Drag Racing Questions

So as not to get into a long discussion, I will oversimplify this by saying et is more about traction and MPH is more about HP.

    Drag Racing Questions

If this is the results of slow shifting. I would not take the car back to the track until you have improved your shifting. You should be able to do this in normal driving and at low RPM. I am not talking about power (gas pedal on the floor) shifting.

    Drag Racing Questions

your brother ran 0.099 fast in the first 60 feet at 330 feet he was 0.3221 faster at 660 feet (1/8) he was 0.5401 faster and 5.04 MPH faster. at 1000 feet he was 0.5267 faster that means you ran 0.0134 faster from 330 feet to 1000 feet. Are you shifting at the same RPM as he was?

    Drag Racing Questions

I am going to look at this differently. Your brother ran 2.1 60 foot and 11.4 You ran 2.2 60 foot and 11.9 What were each of your mph's?

    What's it capable of?

Two questions need to be answered first. 1) What tires / traction will the vehicle have? 2) At what RPM and Trans gear will you start the nitrous? 3.73:1 gears with a 26 inch tall tire If you leave with the nitrous and have the traction (1.5x 60 foot times) then 12.0's

    Ram Air vs Cold Air

If the Ram Air system seals the air cleaner from under hood air then it is the almost the same as a cold air system up to a point. quoting MadBill, "Any reasonably well designed scoop will convert 100% of the air's kinetic energy into a pressure which increases as the square of the speed. At...
