    long rev-down

Idle speed is controlled by the PCM and it is common for the 4.6L to take a long time for the revs to drop. There was another post recently dealing with this very issue. Just do a search for "pesky idle" and you should find it. :nice:

    o2 Sensor Question (help)

You didn't say you had P0136...you said 0136 which can easily be mistaken for the OBD-I code. P0XXX can only be an OBD-II code, I was looking at the OBD-I codes. I should have figured it out (97 - OBD-II). I would still check your wiring and maybe swap MIL eliminators and see if the...

    o2 Sensor Question (help)

Code 136 indicates the left O2 sensor is indicating lean. You can swap that sensor with the one on the right but leave the MIL eliminators where they are. If you get code 176 next time, the O2 sensor is bad. If you get 136 again the problem is either your MIL eliminator or the wiring. Good luck...

    Bank 2 lean?

Bank 2 is the driver's side and getting a lean code for just that side implys that there is a problem with either the forward O2 sensor (driver's side) or fuel starvation on that side (possibly a clogged injector). Any vacuum leaks should affect both sides, but it may be on the verge of doing...

    Anti theft system problem

The same way it is here: the fuel pump is disabled, no pulses are sent to the coil packs or injectors, and the theft light flashes. There are a number of things that can cause the PCM to do this, not just the PATS. If the PCM detects that the fuel line does not pressurize as it should it assumes...

    Anti theft system problem

The PCM is the computer that determines when and if your coil packs fire, fuel pump turns on, injector pulse width, monitors all of the engine control systems, etc... It is located in the kick panel on the passenger side. The tweecer is a chip that plugs into the diagnostic port (just like...

All these bolt ons and only 207rwhp!! HELP ME :(

The altitude saps at least 20% of the power you would have at sea level, but I do think there is something wrong with the dyno too. Last time I was in there he was telling me that 96-98 GTs normally run 145 and 99+ GTs run about 185. There may be something else going on, but I wouldn't worry...

    need some help

I'll second that...when I was looking to replace my 88 5.0, I test drove a 95 Cobra and it was slower than either my 88 or the 98 GT that I eventually bought. All three cars were stock too... :nice:

Need expert opinions on no start

Is it still below freezing? When I lived in the mountains I got a bad tank of gas that had a lot of water in it. As the temperatures dropped overnight the water froze and my wife's truck wouldn't start. After it got above freezing for a while I could finally get fuel and the truck started, but...

    Anti theft system problem

The PCM should turn the pump on for a couple of seconds to pressurize the line then shut it off. When you said it doesn't seem to pressurize are you guessing or do you know the fuel system isn't pressurizing? If the PCM senses that the fuel system isn't pressurizing like it should, it will...

thats it, i'm selling the PI's!

I'm sure many of them do, and that is precisly why they charge what the do...call it a "mediocre engineering tax" if you want to. Ford made the 3rd starter bolt nearly impossible to remove/install; the exhaust studs are no picnic either; and let's not forget the joy of trying to install the...

All these bolt ons and only 207rwhp!! HELP ME :(

The nominal ambient air pressure at sea level is 29.9in-Hg (14.7psi); at this altitude it is typically 24in-Hg (11.8psi). Because the pressure is lower, there is less vacuum developed by the engine and less air/fuel mixture getting in the cylinders. That lowers HP and track times. It takes 2.5#...

thats it, i'm selling the PI's!

For many shops the issue is not necessarily how long the job actually takes that determines how much labor you are billed for. The figures often come from a manual that lists the average time jobs typically take. That way if the mechanic is a moron you don't get nailed for 12 hours labor to...

    Buddy's 4.6 NEED's HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Mine doesn't, but it was manufactured in Feb 98. Even so, according to the factory powertrain control diagnostic manual, the only Ford vehicles with returnless fuel systems in 98 were: Ranger (mechanical returnless), Continental, Escort/Tracer (electronic returnless), and the Mark...
