    I would look into why you were burning off the 5w20 so fast. It is normal to use a little but, if you were burning it up that fast, you had other issues. The 30wt oil is masking the bigger issue.

    There are plenty of bolt in h or x pipes with cats that will work with long tubes. sounds like you are going to need to cut and weld on flanges if you want a temporary set up. If you dont care just cut and weld in your mid pipe.

    if it were my car, I would pull the tranny, replace the output seal, reseal the tail shaft housing and look at the seal on top where the shifter bolts up. While you have it out I would reseal all the plugs as well.

    I highly recommend dropping the k member. A lot of times long tubes are done in conjunction with a new k member. +1 on checking to see if its one that has the steering shaft go through the primaries.

    another trick is a stubby wrench and a chain to pull down on to break it loose.
