questions and specs for new gears plz help

I'm set on the 3.90s when I get the money. At 70 mph on the highway, I figured about 2200 rpm. If I hit the traps in 4th at 105mph, I should be at 5300rpm which is only 100 rpm below my calculated shift points leaving room for improvement.

How to change oil on Manual Transmission ?

At your mileage, I can't see needing a flush. Drain and refill sounds adequate. There is a drain plug on the bottom of the tranny, I believe a 1/4" or 1/2" drive ratchet fits in the square. I was lucky enough to do my tranny oil when I changed out my shifter and poured in the new stuff...

    More Shifter Questions...(sorry)

For our cars, I believe the MGW instructions say to remove the shift stop screws. I did and it's been working great.

    Genesis G26EP battery

Here's some good information on different types of batteries including weights. http://www.stealth316.com/2-dynabatt.htm Scroll down to 'Other SLA batteries.'

    Genesis G26EP battery

Optima wins the coolness factor. Maybe I can wrap it in some cool carbon fiber. :D Not going to relocate the battery, just going for a lighter one.

    Genesis G26EP battery

I've been looking to save some weight with a new battery, this Genesis G26EP looks decent, seems to have more CCA than the Odyssey 680 that I've seen a lot on here go with and has a larger reserve. Anyone using it? Comes in at about 22 lbs.

    17's or 18's for street/strip

I'm in a similar boat. I like the look of the 18s but don't want drag strip results to suffer. I'm leaning towards the 18x8.5 BBS RK rims. They are very lightweight for their size, about 9 pounds lighter than the stock bullets per wheel. Only issue is the price. I'm thinking the 9 pounds...

what brand/style cat-back should i get for the 01 GT?

Save some coin and have a shop weld in the mufflers of your choice. You'll save a couple hundred and still get the sound you want. Now you can show her how much money you saved Or spend that saved money on a shifter.

    03 GT a Lemon? Help!

I always wondered how carfax knew about accidents, apparently they only know about totaled vehicles. Thanks for sharing. I guess this is why sometimes it pays to buy a car brand new so you know its complete history.

    Gas Mileage Problems

I'd say give it some time. I think mine dropped too when I first put in Borlas. Also, check your tire pressure. Make sure you're not running on 20lbs. or something. Edit: Or maybe you were real lean back then where you were getting 320. You had a CAI to get the air in but no exhaust mod...

    GT Sparkplugs

On the flip side, if you change them now, they might be a lot easier to get out than when they have 100k on them. I changed my explorer at 70k. I don't believe the gap stays right that long. You can probably get away with 100k, I just rather be safe than get stuck somewhere, especially if its...

Lose The Rear Cats, Lose Torque.

How about this....we've seen data on how mufflers have made more hp than open pipes. Why can't the same be true for high flow cats? I agree, if it is between the stock cats and an O/R pipe, I'm taking the O/R pipe. But a well made hi-flow cat could concievably outlflow a straight pipe. I...

    tax returns kick ass!!!!

Don't forget you'll need a good amount of money for the wedding/honeymoon, unless you're lucky enough to get it paid for. Even with help from parents, we still blew about $10K. Now I'm spending 1200/month on daycare for 2 kids. Can't wait till they go to school.

    20K/Service Engine Soon

Agree with Shiroelex. Getting the code can allow you to do some diagnosing on your own. I got a code on the explorer and then did some searching on the internet on the code. Several people had the same code pop up and had listed things that worked for them. Obviously, you won't always be...

    Royal purple...is it time yet?

I put Royal Purple in at 9k miles when I put in my MGW. Haven't missed a shift since I did the change around Christmas. I don't powershift, but I've been very pleased with the combo and would do it again.

Who else has had the gears polished

Didn't see it the first time, but have dyno graphs linked for a 98 Z28 and a 00 firebird run by a high performance shop. The testing write up says that Ford rears may benefit more from this process due to the position of the pinion, which causes Ford rears to be less efficient than GM and...

Who else has had the gears polished

Thomas, If you read through their sight more carefully, they compare the mikronite process to the cryo process and theirs seems much better. Yes, it's coming from their site, but I'm not sold that this is BS until there are some dynos.
