    Miss/exhaust backfire

Thanks...the fact that it doesnt do it for the first 30-60 seconds of startup, but then always afterward, makes me think it's a sensor problem, but I cant think of a sensor that the computer starts reading that quickly, its not even CLOSE to closed-loop operation at that point and probably...

    couple small issues left

Wish I could look at it, my friend did almost the same exact stuff to his car and had major issues...I got there and found he had a vacuum leak, his throttle stop screw was too far out (dont forget about this one, it had a huge effect on his car....what I did, for starters just to get a...

    Miss/exhaust backfire

It was chipped on the dyno and I had some input in the tuning. It has 2 degrees of timing added across the entire advance curve, and 10% of the fuel pulled out from idle to 2000 rpms because it was idling pig rich to get to a good mixture up top. A:F ratio was at about 12.9:1 on the dyno and...

    Miss/exhaust backfire

Thanks, I'll try to look up the charts. Im assuming that IAT sensor is the one mounted in the intake, on the driver-side, in one of the runners? I've tried disconnecting both that one, and the ECT sensor, but driveability didnt change. By the way I really appreciate your help man...

    Miss/exhaust backfire

Timing is 15 degrees base advance. And it's an intermittent miss. Example, cold leaving the house, it runs fine for 30 seconds, then begins to miss randomly, clear up for a few seconds, start missing again. Wide open throttle it runs fine, all other throttle positions it misses. It only...

    Miss/exhaust backfire

Yep, TPS is .98 at idle and a steady sweep to like 4.5 or 4.7volts. Thats the thing, the plugs look fine! Light tan, slight carbon at the base of the plug. Last time I pulled them, #1 was completely fouled, looked like oil...but that's only happened one time, and every time since theyve all...

    Miss/exhaust backfire

Computer is chipped, throws no codes. Its a breather off of the oil-fill location on the passenger side. The line to the intake, where it used to go to, is capped, and the PCV valve on the back of the manifold is capped.

    c-4 in my 89?

C4 will go in, just requires a few modifications, but a lot of guys do it. I'd go with the C4, manual v/b, and a stall converter if you wanna really rock at the strip. AOD's are more expensive and have wimpy gear ratios, and t5's....well theyre just weak as crap unless you get a built one.

    Miss/exhaust backfire

It's been forever and a day since I've been on the boards...forgot that I was even a member. Anyways I've been having persistent issues with this combination since it went together, its an intermittent misfire (all operating states except WOT) combined with random, severe power-loss and exhaust...

How can I adjust the air/fuel ratio???

    Yep that will work.

How can I adjust the air/fuel ratio???

+1...change plugs, gap to .055 or a little more if you dont plan to spray on em....0.55 I believe is stock gap. More gap will give you better power as long as you can sustain a hot spark between it...too little gap shrouds the flame. DEFINITELY get an afpr....seen many many guys upgrade...

How can I adjust the air/fuel ratio???

.035 gap is really tight unless youre running some kind of power adder. Youd do better with .050 to .060... But get your fuel issue worked out first, that's KILLING your numbers and hurting the motor too, too much unburnt fuel can wash down the cylinder walls and cause the rings to start...

How can I adjust the air/fuel ratio???

Really....? I wonder why mine cleans up on the second pass then.... But Im not gonna distract from this guy's post so nevermind lol

How can I adjust the air/fuel ratio???

Im just going on my personal experience, running 24 lb injectors and an AFPR, as far as driveability goes, I found virtually no adaptation taking place on my car other than wide open...if the pressure is high, it surges, always, every time, and always stinks rich and fouls plugs. If it's lean...

    Help with DTC's?

Oh and also which one of these could cause the light? I believe most of these codes are stored but dont trip the light. If the light came on due to the lean code....wouldnt it have to be DANGEROUSLY lean? Ive ran obnoxiously rich for months and had both O2's coding but never got a light off...

How can I adjust the air/fuel ratio???

That's true but there's a limit to its adaptiveness and it doesnt take very much to hit that limit.. You can drastically affect driveability both part throttle and full throttle with fuel pressure changes.

    Help with DTC's?

O2 sensors are 2 months old, replaced both sides. System has been smog-checked and visually inspected for vacuum leaks several times. Engine makes 7 inches at the manifold (lots of cam overlap). The O2 ground is grounded on an intake manifold bolt like you said. Any reason why it would...

How can I adjust the air/fuel ratio???

11.2....hot damn that's bad. Like they said use an AFPR and try to get it, ehh, around 13.5 or so I'd say would be a good bet. Just be aware that with fuel pressure, it's easier to tune smaller injectors at higher pressure, than it is larger injectors at lower pressure, provided you're staying...

Gt-40 P heads with cam install?

+1.... And correct me if I'm wrong guys but stock springs should be good to about .500 lift right, assuming the cam isnt overly aggressive

    Help with DTC's?

So I scanned my car after a check engine light came on and got 4 codes. The light stayed on while the car was running, but when shut off and restarted it went out and hasn't come back. It came on shortly after doing a WOT 1-2-3 pull with ~6300 rpm shift points. Codes are: 29, 34, 41, and...
