My overhaul on 4nomore- built by a girl :)

first thanks all for the kudos :) The black radiator cover is from UPR, BUT it doesn't work with my double row radiator, so I have it temporarily zip tied to work....I have to buy another one. I hope you guys will go to my site on gotstang.com so you can see the other pictures. Here's...

My overhaul on 4nomore- built by a girl :)

In November 08 I took the stang off the road because of excessive blowby from tired rings. I had a decision to make...crate engine or rebuild it myself. Because I was sucessful with the 5.0 swap in 2006, I decided with the help of my boyfriend on heavy duty stuff and stangnet and a mechanic...

    Distributor trouble

My oil pump shaft was installed properly, meaning upside down with the engine out of the car at the time, the shaft was put in the block pilot hole, then the pump bolted down with the shaft seated in the pump. The pump primes perfectly So; I installed it correct where...the retaining clip...

shaved .27" off the dizzy worked :) We're sure we're still getting approx .90" engagement dizzy sits flush starting the engine tomorrow after this 7 month overhaul!

    Distributor trouble

I'm going to take my dizzy to work with me tomorrow and have the machine shop trim it down, this way it's more precise I'll follow up and confirm how it all works out

    Distributor trouble

looks like I've found a few people have had this issue with the high volume melling pumps...the retaining ring being installed too high and the dizzy is bottoming out on it. I've revised my concept drawing:

    Distributor trouble

After some additional checking we're convinced the distributor is bottoming out on the retaining clip....we even went to the store and pulled the same HV melling pump from stock and compared the retaining clip install height to the old one; I also recall the retaining clips being in different...

    Distributor trouble

I recently rebuilt my 5.0 (87 engine) and my boyfriend and I cannot get this distributor to install all the way..... We've got over 10 hours trying to get this to install...we tried every trick in the book: 1. Turn the hex oil pump shaft slightly and tried re-inserting the dizzy like a...

New Engine: Initial startup tips anyone?

good article by the way...has me thinking makes me more worried about getting my timing straight so I can take it for a ride soon enough to set the rings.

New Engine: Initial startup tips anyone?

I did already prime the engine once with the valve cover off to be sure the pump works, I plan to do it again just before I drop in the distributor. I read somewhere they say hold above 2000 rpm for help with keeping oil reaching the cam, meaning oiling isn't so great sometimes below 2000...

New Engine: Initial startup tips anyone?

I just rebuilt my 5.0 and I'll be turning the key in a few days, but I'm kind of new to somethings like distributor install and timing and I don't know how this will work out on a engine that hasn't run yet. Once I install the distributor, how do I know the initial spark is close enough to...

    What is this wire?

THANKS! SOUNDS GOOD TO ME I can't test it because I'm not running yet...one more day of work before I turn the key, and I don't have any power at the momment

    What is this wire?

two black with a white stripe, to a very small connector then again 2 black w/ white stripes; but I'm missing/can't find the connector and where the other wires/plug is.

    What is this wire?

I looked up donor car reference pics and found this, you can barely make out the plug here....it does plug into another plug with 2 black wires w/ white stripes: but I can't find the other plug? where does it go?

    What is this wire?

I don't have a stock a/c unit (never has the 5.0 stock a/c) so...i can tell you that the a/c plug is 2 wires into a farily good size plug, this mystery wire is not part of that....unless you're saying there's a 3rd wire that goes in there? I think I seen the original cover to this myster...

    What is this wire?

Here's the stock location, you can see from the other photo it sticks out about 1" after the chassis harness splits off into the spirder web of wires. You can't see the little connector in this picture, but this is the location:

    What is this wire?

This is the chassis harness as it comes into the engine bay down by the starter relay....so...this belongs to a 4cyl 93 (what my car was originally)
