    GT6 Emblems??

Go to a junkyard and look for a "6" emblem that would work after the regular GT emblem. If it's smaller type, it shouldn't be too hard to find one that looks good.

    99 Stang with fuel problem

Siphoning it is the easiest way. Get about an 8' length of clear 1/2" tubing and feed half of it into the tank. Suck on the other end until gas is visible, and then put the end into your gas can and the rest should siphon out. Remember that the outside end has to be kept lower than the tank for...

    Whiny noise in first gear

Be careful replacing a lot of your PS fluid with an additive. The fluid has properties that the additive doesn't, and you might shorten the life of your pump. Mustangs are known for PS pump whine, even when everything is working, but you can almost eliminate the noise with an underdrive pulley...

    H pipe cost?

From a performance standpoint, you really don't need a H pipe. Since the V6 has an even firing sequence , it gets no benefit from cylinder scavenging like the V8. Some think it improves the sound however ( I tend to disagree).

Not your average Engine Swap thread

$10.5k for a used engine? I remember seeing a 03/04 Cobra motor with tranny new in the crate in one of the Mustang parts catalogs for $6k a year or two ago. I would research more sources before jumping on this. The V8 swap writeups will be able to explain the swap in greater detail, but at...

1998 Mustang v6 - Just replaced clutch and now have a tapping in throw out bearing.

You only hear the tapping when you're in gear? Sometimes a u-joint will make a tapping when it's going out. I just did my clutch too, and when I tested the clutch the first time, the stupid Chinese TOB that came with the kit shattered into several pieces. I had to get the car back together...

    Airbag and Cruise Hookup...Please Help

It sounds like you have a car that has been through a lot more than you were led to believe. Do you have a check engine light? I'd have a car parts store check for codes and go from there. It sounds like you have some engine work to do, but it's hard to say what's wrong without seeing the car...

    Airbag and Cruise Hookup...Please Help

Are you sure it's the cruise control harness? It may be the airbag connector, if the collision set off the airbag and the seller disconnected the system to get rid of the airbag light. It's not illegal to drive a car without a functioning airbag, and you'll have to address the risk issue on your...

    Replace Engine?

Sounds like a great plan on paper, but the SC 3.8 is actually very different from the Mustang 3.8. Lots of parts are in different places in the induction system. This mod has been done before but it's a lot of work- some people have just transplanted the whole SC engine and gone from there...

    02 Problem

Do you have any drivability issues? It almost sounds like you have unburned fuel downstream from the engine from a misfire or stuck injector or some other issue. That would overheat your O2 sensors and the residual fuel will burn in the catalytic converters, creating the heat you say is...

    AC Compressor problem

+1 on low refrigerant. There's a low-pressure switch that will inhibit the compressor to keep you from burning it up if you're low on refrigerant. Try topping it off with one of the cans you can get in the auto parts stores. Some include a UV leak tracer to help you find the leak. Treat it...

    Replace Engine?

You're right that 3.8L is a fairly large engine. The reason that this engine doesn't make all that much power (or torque) is that it's old-school pushrod technology, and not a lot of work was done on the induction by Ford. It's intended to be one of Ford's corporate engines for mid-size cars...

    2003 fog light installation

I researched it a little for my '01, and as far as I can tell the wiring for fogs is all there except the one under the bumper that extends from a harness plug to the two lights. I don't think the relay for the fogs is installed in the fuse box, either. Doing it factory limits you to having...

how to reach spark plug on far back passenger side

Did you take the air cleaner box and tube off? That makes it a bit easier. Then it's a matter of using a 12" socket extention with a flex joint and you'll be able to get it.

    my top speed

A vehicle's top speed will be limited either by engine RPM or drag, but in our age of concern over liability it can also be limited by a governor. That's the case with the Mustang. The 99+ Mustangs are electronically limited to 120 MPH due to the speed rating of the tires that came on the car...

Newby - '99 power steering pulley question

I believe that the pulley is correctly aligned when the face is flush with the end of the shaft, but I could be wrong. Just make sure the shop presses the pulley on properly! I've heard of some auto parts stores taking it in the back room and using the ol' hammer. As for the noise, it's a...

Engine shakes and RPM bounce up and down

A lot of Mustangs have issues with idle speed. It's usually a dirty or defective IAC or MAF or a minor vacuum leak. If there are no codes or drivability issues, I would probably just live with it and see if it gets worse. Some of these cars didn't idle perfectly when they were brand new....

    Racing Seats

Are you going to be actually racing, or are you just looking to mod the car? The parts houses like Jegs and Summit have inexpensive racing seats in a variety of colors, but be warned that they're designed for light weight and keeping you in place- not comfort! If you're aiming for a custom...

    Loud at highway speeds

Mustangs have always been louder than other cars. They're marketed as performance cars, and the Sixers are among Ford's line of affordable beginner cars. Thus, they don't have as much soundproofing as fancier cars. If you're getting engine and/or exhaust sound at highway speeds, you can try...

    94-98 WHITE Interior

Yes, prep is critical. Degrease well, scuff lightly with sandpaper, and then degrease again. Every trace of Armor All must be removed or you'll have adhesion problems.
