    Street/strip struts?

QA-1s are about the best you can get but Strange Engineering makes a nice adjustable also that's reasonably priced and has the adjustments you're looking for. Here's a link. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=STR%2DS6001EM&N=700+4294908331+115&autoview=sku

    Traction Lok Rebuild Help

After you install the frictions, steels, and shims, you rotate the gears together till the holes line up so you can install the crosspin. After you install the crosspin and the s-spring you shouldn't be able to move the gears by hand.

    seat height

I used them different than they tell you to. They show them running parallel to the door. I ran them the opposite. Parallel to the dash. That way you can adjust the height to make it more level.

    Checking pushrod

That's a good link. Keep in mind though, the illustration they're showing is drastic. You won't see that much of a sweep on the valve stem. Here's another link http://www.popularhotrodding.com/enginemasters/articles/hardcore/0607em_high_performance_engine_building/valvetrain_variables.html And a...

    Engine wiring carbed

Are you saying it's hooked up as shown on diagram and won't start? If yes make sure the small red wire to the MSD is getting power with the key on.

    seat height

Hey 7-up, I think they look great. I installed a set similar in our '87 except they were APCs. I used the universal brackets from Summit and bought the aftermarket sliders. They sit about the same height as yours. Do those seats from Summit flip forward with a quick release? That's what I don't...

few questions for the new 347

I'd go with the 255 pump. Definately 13/4" longtubes with 3" exhaust, and a Canton 7qt pan without a kickout. Kicked out pans can be a pain with longtubes. I've always stayed away from them.

Noisy Lifters/ Ford Racing tech Dept

I've talked to Steve about the car and noise on and off for quite a while now. Crane is full of crap and just trying to make a sale on the lifter comment. Typical Big Name, High Dollar Company with Minimum Wage Tech advisers. The stock ford 5.0s have some weak points but those lifters aren't one...

    Rocker Play

That's normal for hydraulic lifters. When the engine sees oil pressure the hydro-rollers will fill with oil and take up the slack in the valvetrain.

    408W ... carb or injected ... opinions

If you read it and think about it instead of just being a jerk about it you might learn something. My only comment was "check this out". I didn't say carbs are better. Both systems have their place. I have one carbed stang and one EFI and I like both systems.

    Oil Pump Replacement...

I wouldn't say common but it does happen. 90 percent of the time it's debris that gets in the pump that locks it up.

Felpro # 8548-PT2 or 9333-PT1 is all I've ever run.

    Holley carb problem

How do you you know they're not flowing? Is the tune way lean? Are you talking about the pump squirters?

    Lifters need help

You said you had the rockers off for 45 minutes to an hour. They won't bleed down with the Rockers off. It takes the pressure from the valve spring with the valve open to bleed them down.

    Lifters need help

That's normal. As long as you're sure you're on the base circle of the cam go ahead and tighten them down. If a valve opens slightly, the valve spring will eventually bleed down the lifter to where it needs to be. The ones you said push down easy were probably open when the engine was shut off...

    Full Spool with c-clip eliminators???

I run full spool with C-clip eliminators. Brakes are bone stock drums if that helps.

Questions about timing cover, water pump and non-efi intake install

The reason is, when you get into aftermarket manifolds, aftermarket or machined heads, etc. the thickness of the gap from the bottom of the intake to the block changes which alot of times makes those end gaskets useless. A bead of RTV works the best even on stockers.

    Question about canfield heads

The wide pattern is a nice feature. Before I hogged out the narrow pattern headers to match my ports. It worked but they were paper thin and kept cracking so I went to wide pattern flanges and modified the replaced the last 2" of each tube into the flanges. Fits and looks great, flows even better.
