    how short will first gear be??

    With 3.73 rears and a t5 stock box I could not get half way through an intersection without shifting. 60 mph at 5th gear was like 3000 rpm's. My solution was to put a 2.95 gear set in my T5. Stil workingon it but it should gie me a usefull 1st gear and less rpm's on the highway. Love my 3.73...

    I guess my question is if you are going to the expense of a new head why not go with a custom grind cam and dispense with the need for the hig lift rockers??

    I think you need to upgrade those weak stock valve springs. 1.7 ratio is OK for street use if you are not going to a custom cam. Will give you a little more power at the top end and should not loose any on the bottom. It is not a big gain but worth it if you will eventually go with TB...

    thermostat question

    I have used both a 180 and a 160 and I can't tell one from the other in terms of HP or MPG!! In fact once I get going, in the mild winters in SOCAL they take about the same time to warm up just that one goes to 160 second line on my gauge while the other goes to the third line.

    I use white out on 10* markings and 14* so I know where I am at at all (most) times.
