Western CND 10" Tire Shootout ???

Don't forget about Power 2 the Pavement in Medicine Hat at the end of june. http://www.power2thepavement.ca -Matthew

Alright who has an OBDII scanner?

Just as an FYI, Mustangs made prior to 1996 use OBD I not OBD II, and use the EEC-IV processor. You can pull codes from one of these cars using aligator clips and the check engine light, or a $20 scanner from Canadian Tire. An OBD II scanner will not work with one of these cars. -Matthew

Does the Base TWEECER give real time feedback?

I think you need to provide power tg the tweecer from the car itself - I don't think you can program it just laying on your desk. -Matthew

idles (barely) but won't rev at all???

It sounds like a timing problem to me. Make sure you pull the short plug when checking base timing. -Matthew

Does the Base TWEECER give real time feedback?

You need the RT model for datalog. The base model will allow you to modify all of the EEC parameters, but you cannot log them. Either buy the RT model, or take your car to a dyno shop with wideband and tune it with the base model (or a custom chip from the dyno operator) there. BTW: Even with...

What's an average oil presure at idle?

Do you have a high volume pump? 40 psi is pretty high for idle oil pressure on a 302 Ford with a standard pump. -Matthew

    Can someone diagnose this timeslip???

Here's another idea - your stock tach is probably way off. I've seen these tachs off by as much as 500 RPM at 6000 (my own '90 coupe is 500 too high at 6000). You might think you are shifting at 5500 and are actually shifting at 5000. It will help for you to use a good tach, even if it's just a...

What's an average oil presure at idle?

Your oil pressure is like a new motor. Don't worry about it. On top of that, I've seen 302's run a long time with about 10 psi at idle, though it's clear that they are pretty worn out with that kind of oil pressure. -Matthew

    Can someone diagnose this timeslip???

I'd say you have too much air pressure in your drag radials, or are launching off idle, then I'd say you are shifting too soon or going into overdrive. -Matthew

    EFI 351W won't rev past 6000 - HELP!

Not yet - I've had a bit of the flu and when I haven't been fighting that off, the shop's been tied up with customers. Plus, it snowed! Thanks for asking, I'll keep after it. -Matthew

    EFI 351W won't rev past 6000 - HELP!

I thought that it had to be ignition, but I've begun to doubt that since putting in a way more powerful and higher voltage ignition system did nothing. I like your idea about the plugs though, and I have them gapped fairly wide - .043 or so - so I will try it from that angle. The wires are...

    EFI 351W won't rev past 6000 - HELP!

Thanks for your input - I didn't get a chance to work on it today because I had other cars in the shop all day, but I plan on running a cylinder balance test, then I guess I'll replace all the plugs on spec if that doesn't reveal anything. RE: PIP value - I have it at 300 in the Tweecer...

    EFI 351W won't rev past 6000 - HELP!

I have an EFI 351W in a '90 coupe which will not rev past about 6000 RPM. When it gets to that point, it falls flat and burbles and pops as if it was having an ignition misfire. This problem happens at WOT and part throttle, with the stock A9L program, a modified Tweecer program with higher rev...

    Junkyard Special

Ford offered 5.0L Explorers in Canada. The chances of finding one with the heads and intake on it at a pick your part place are not good. Don't waste your time on junk yard cams - roller cams are cheap brand new, or try a swap meet. You will need special headers for the GT-40P heads which are on...

Rear drivers side axel is bent

I don't think there's anything wrong with used axles, especially out of an Aerostar van, and as far as tools are concerned, all you need is a lug wrench to take the wheel off the wreck (if there IS a wheel on it that is), and a small socket to pull the differential cover off. The axle slides...

Rear drivers side axel is bent

I assume you mean "5 lug conversion". Go to the junk yard and pull a passenger side axle from an Aerostar van, or a driver's side axle from a Ranger pickup. This is the absolute cheapest, and easiest source of 28 spline 5 lug axles for your car. Also, since most of the donor vehicles are open...

    Fox3 + 351W = Which hood??

I use a Cervini's Cobra R on mine. I have a Victor 5.8 intake, which is probably about as tall as they come for an injected 351W, and convertible mounts. I don't think the convertible mounts lower the engine much, if any, and with a big pan on there, you don't want to lower the engine much...

    AEM wideband o2 ??'s

Western Motorsports has a new wideband O2 system which works well and is maybe a little cheaper than the AEM system. Theirs uses a digital readout that you can mount in the car and a wideband sensor, plus it includes a square wave style voltage output that can be hooked into the stock sensor...

    Surging Idle Need Help!!!!

The problem may lie with your recalibrated MAF sensor. It can throw the load calculation off in the PCM, which can cause the surging problem you are having. I bet if you installed your stock MAF and adjusted your idle fuel pressure (with vacuum hooked up) to about 30 PSI to compensate for the...

    Surging Idle Need Help!!!!

Take your IAB valve off and clean it with carb cleaner. With the IAB harness disconnected, set your idle RPM with the throttle plate screw on the throttle body, then set your TPS sensor to about .95 V. The voltage output on many of these sensors increases when they get hot, so I prefer a little...
