    302 ? 306 ? ported heads ? stock heads ?

By the time you clean them up, upgrade the springs, valve job, etc, you'll be spending too much money on those old irons. Look for some worked over heads or save for some used aluminum. Also, be aware that the gt40p heads may require specific headers because of the spark plug angle.

    302 ? 306 ? ported heads ? stock heads ?

Don't bother spending money on those door stops (e7's). You can possibly find some worked gt40p's for about that amount, otherwise spending money on untouched iron heads is usually not worth it, not for the amount used alluminums are going for now.

    302 ? 306 ? ported heads ? stock heads ?

Assume it's stock and enjoy. I don't see why anyone would port the heads and not the intake and throttle body. If it's a stock sized throttle body, it's probably a safe bet to say the heads are untouched also. If you've got stock headers, then chances are nobody has touched anything. PS...

    Catalytic converter is smoking...

Car has lots of power, no driveability issues. The smoke I'm seeing is not dark, more like steam looking. I'm smelling something but not sure if you'd call it sweet (it could be I guess). If I had coolant in the cat, wouldn't I also see smoke out the tail pipe? I'm not seeing coolant on the...

    Catalytic converter is smoking...

What if it's coolant in the exhaust? Ripping the cats out won't solve my problem. In any case, this is a street car and it must pass emissions.

    Catalytic converter is smoking...

I noticed that one of my catalytic converters (passenger side) is smoking and the bottom of it appears to be wet. Is this condensation and evidence of it being clogged? Is it fuel or coolant? There is an obvious smell of something burning. The other cat appears to be ok. Oil looks ok and coolant...

I know people tend to ask a lot for black interior...but this is ridiculous!

I wonder if I can get that kind of money for my original black interior, which incidently is in better shape than his. With everyone swapping black interiors, I got a feeling in a few years Porno Red will be the hot item.

    Best year??

89-93 for Mass air 90+ for upgraded T5 (rated for 300 ft/lbs torque as opposed to 265) 89-92 for forged pistons although some late 92's had hypers 90+ for nicer airbag steering wheel 91+ for bigger wheel wells Now if you like the look of the 4 eyes, 79-86, nothing wrong with going...

    T5-Z trans question.

Could this be why I'm having trouble shifting into fifth? Sometimes it will go in smoothly, but other times I have to double clutch it. The previous owner said it's been like this since the rebuild. Adjustment needed or bad rebuild job?

    fluidyne radiators

Nothing to do with power. Plenty of these rads on high powered applications. It's luck of the draw I guess. Some tend to leak from poor quality control? Poor craftsmanship?

    oil choice

I just switched to Valvoline full synthetic. Anybody have any experience with this oil?

    fluidyne radiators

Go with 180 degree thermostat. Many people on here are running Fluidyne rads, some with great results, some poor. The majority of the complaints stem from leaks. Personally I would go with a Griffin rad. Everyone I know that's ever run one has never had a problem.

    Ashamed for us

Nothing but a bunch of lemons on that show lately. It seems everyone is just bringing in the biggest pile they can find and hoping to get lucky. Pinks all out is way better. I watched an episode of Pinks lately where one guy's car (chevy nova I believe) was leaking coolant everywhere and the...

    Piston to valve clearance issue????

You should always measure PTV clearance, otherwise it's mostly a guessing game.
