    High Speed Vibration Remedies?

You are getting good replies. These things are always tough to pinpoint from our armchairs. My recommendation is to start with the easy stuff and work toward the tough stuff. This could be as simple as an old balance weight coming off the rim. That's worth checking. If they're all there, I'd...

    Need a new radiator, '66

By "big" I meant area of the radiator (width x height), not tube diameter. That said, I believe mine uses a 1" tube. A decent 2-row 20" rad in alum will cool a lot of engine. Maybe 500hp worth of motor.

    Headers For Toploader

Tri-ys come in different flavors. The Shelby knock-offs use 1 1/2 inch primaries and should only be used on mild builds - they are fine for mild builds. On a built motor, or with a stroker, you'll need 1 5/8 inch primaries - which Doug's tri-ys use.

    Doug's Tri-Ys fit nice.

4 Or 5 Ply Leaf Springs?

The big mistake some make is to combine a 5-leaf with stiff shocks. That makes for a horrible ride. Anyone not satisfied with 5-leaf springs and wants an easy improvement, add a soft shock. I have Cure Rides and they're fine. Not saying the ride isn't stiff, but I can live with it. 4 or 41/2...

    Need a new radiator, '66

Crossflow is better, but requires a matching water pump. Keep in mind that each additional row adds less cooling capacity. Diminishing returns - basically the air entering gets progressively hotter as it passes successive cores and has less and less cooling effect. A big 2-core is better than a...

Ping Ping Ping - Timing Issues, What are you running?

Do yo have endplay for your rotor? (see my post above)

Ping Ping Ping - Timing Issues, What are you running?

When the engine is cold and the cap off the dizzy, you shoudl be able to move the rotor up and down, freely, for maybe .020 -.030" (that's a bit of a guess). If it's tight, you must clearance it at the bottom. I'd take it to a good machine shop and have them do it, if it's tight. Don't blame...

    carburator sizing cfms????

The main thing is throttle response, esp. at lower RPMs, and ease of tuning. I ran a Carb shop 750 DP for a while, then replaced it with a 650 HP series DP. Throttle response was snappier and fuel consumption went down. It is VERY unlikely that their will be any difference in power (up top) with...

Rear suspension - Performance leaf springs

I use the GW springs you mention, their del-alums and hd shackles. The rear is firm, little flex or roll and no wrap up, at all, when I jump on it (400+hp stroker). Simple and effective.

    Sticky Cable Clutch Mod. Driveline

Although the melted cable is normally the best guess, the other option (since you have shorties) is that the piece (lever) you bolted to the top of your clutch pedal is rubbing the under side of the dash. If this is the case, you can "massage" the dash a bit, or loosen the bolt and allow the...

Shifting the manual for better fuel econ

I just hit 27mph on my '06 GT. I haven't reset the computer for thousands of miles, so it's not just the result of very recent driving habits. I assume that the computer's MPH feature is a moving average. Does anyone know the averaging period in miles?

Alternator tests fine, only makes 12.4v on car???

Well, on my 3G alt., it has to have a 12V "signal" for it turn ON. I know where the 12V input to the alt. is, so I checked to see if Ignition ON supplied the 12V via the reg. It didn't when the connector was loose, so I was pointed to the reg. In my case, the plug was just loose, but it acted...

Alternator tests fine, only makes 12.4v on car???

When I bought my '66, I was warned that the battery would discharge if I left the battery cable connected. Sure enough, the battery would drain down to nothing. I destroyed two batteries before finding the culprit. For my case, the original alternator had been replaced with a one-wire. Where the...

Main differences between A code and K code

Given a fixed engine size, your power will ultimately limited by your heads. The intake, cam and exhaust should then match the heads. So, if you plan to make more changes later , especially the cam, then keep this in mind. I would have the heads ported (assuming you will stay with a noon-stroker...

Main differences between A code and K code

this is what I recall off the top of my head: Cam: K-code used a solid flat tappet cam for more power and higher RPM capabilities Heads: K-code heads used more valve spring, screw-in studs and other mods to support the larger cam Exhaust manifolds: Somewhat better design for better flow Damper...

    Re-torque aluminum heads......

Yes. I needed a swivel adapter (plus extension, of course) for some of the outside nuts (I have studs), but it was doable.

How do I hook up 600hp?

For straight line acceleration, you need to be able to have the front end lift up. Your stiffer front springs and sway bar will limit both. Softer front springs and disconnecting the sway bar when at the track will help your 1/4 mi times. Also, drag specific shocks, or adjustable shocks would...

    My $2000 Ignition - I need help!

Maybe just your relay fried. Try to jump across the relay and see if it cranks - use a large gauge wire. If so, just replace the relay.
