Rebuild Recommendations For 200 V6 Daily Driver

I'll have to take you at your word on the spindles - do you also recommend against passengers, especially heavy ones? One passenger ok but more than one not? Just asking.. If I were going to try to be different with a small engine I'd probably go turbo 2.3 over a straight six NA, but a turbo...

Rebuild Recommendations For 200 V6 Daily Driver

Great post! Nice to see some tech and details on building a six. That last part is a little sexist, but hey that's fine. I think it's fine that someone wants to be different. It sounds cool to have a vehicle that's fast with an unusual engine. However, it's not the cheap or easy way to go...

Rebuild Recommendations For 200 V6 Daily Driver

Yeah I didn't think of the 6 cylinder wheel lug issue since my '70 originally came with 5 lugs. However, you could get away with 4 lug suspension if you aren't doing anything crazy. Switching to 5 lug could be a long term project - or never. All the Fox Mustangs ('79-'94) came with a 302 and 4...

Is An Engine That Was Rebuilt 10 Years Ago And Left To Sit Still Good?

I wouldn't pay $400 for it either, but if you're really keen on the motor you could go with some tools. Pull the plugs and shoot a little WD-40 down in there and then take a breaker bar and see if the engine turns over. If it turns it will probably run. If you can't easily turn it over don't...

Rebuild Recommendations For 200 V6 Daily Driver

Not what you asked for, but my advice is to put a 302 in there instead. I foolishly rebuilt the 250 straight 6 in my '70 years ago. What a waste of money! I should have never done it. Build a 302 - then you can use your car while you're building the engine. Also you'll end up with better...

    351 Cleveland Help

I would not recommend a T5 behind a Cleveland, unless you are going to baby it all the time. The Cleveland makes too much torque for a T5. The original poster wants a torquey build as well. I have a 3550 to put behind mine, which is also not strong enough, but I can't afford a TKO yet. I'm going...

    351 Cleveland Help

I know the Chivy guys always used to say that the 4V Cleveland ports were too big, but now that they worship at the shrine of the LS motors they can hardly talk like that any more, can they? :) Yes it is easy to cam a Cleveland too big or do other things to cause there to be a lack of low end...

    351 Cleveland Help

I think you should go here to ask your question: http://www.network54.com/Forum/119419/ There is a build forum where you can look at what components other members used in their Cleveland builds and how much power they made. People on this forum are Cleveland fanatics! I wouldn't buy Aussie...

66 coupe -fast back, yea i am going to do it again

Great project! Where do you live? It must be so great to live in a climate where you can work and store things outside. Cutting and grinding can suck so much when you're inside, wearing a respirator and the air just doesn't clear out until you can open up the space and sweep all the dust out.

    351C and MSD ignition problem

It really sounds like you wired it wrong to me. The distributor would not be able to make a ground source (-) read 12v. If there is ground on one end of the wire the whole wire will read near as makes no difference to 0 volts. I think you must have wired a 12v source to the distributor ground.

What puller for tie rod ends?

If it doesn't come off with the hammer, use a bigger hammer. I remember the first time I used a pickle fork to separate a ball joint. I foolishly was using a framing hammer to beat on the pickle fork. I was hitting it really hard and I got the tines of the pickle fork forced about 1/2 way into...

    Pushrods for guideplates

You want to measure to determine the correct length pushrods. Every engine is different and especially with roller rockers and aftermarket camshafts it's important to get the geometry right. The consequence of incorrect geometry is rapid valve guide wear. Buy an adjustable length pushrod...

    Lifter failure?

If a lifter failed you should pull the motor, disassemble and clean everything thoroughly to get rid of all the metal shavings and then reassemble - replacing any wiped bearings, etc. as you do. If a lifter failed the cam is probably bad too. Yes all the other lifters should be replaced in my...

New owner of a 70 vert, advice needed

I'm a little biased, but I would say since it is a convertible you should plan to keep it more of a cruiser. If you want something really fast buy a Fox Mustang and build that up. They are cheap and if you wreck one it's no big loss. You don't want to crash or twist up that convertible. I'm...

looking for advice on a carb

That is what the recommendation used to be. Now the recommendation is typically only mechanical secondaries if the car is extremely light, the engine very powerful and very little street use. The problem with mechanical secondaries is your carb will be wrong for every situation except wide open...

looking for advice on a carb

I would recommend you stay away from mechanical secondaries unless it's a race-only car. You will get a lot better results with a vacuum secondary carb, especially on the street. Vacuum secondary isn't necessarily slower than mechanical on the track, but it will function much better at partial...

    8 inch traction lock rear

You should be able to look around locally and find something, I would think. If you like doing some things yourself you could buy a used chunk for cheap from a junkyard and a rebuild kit and set it up yourself. There are a few specialty tools, but rebuilding a center section and Trac-loc is...

    leaf spring ride height questions

People have used longer shackles on the rear leaf mount to raise the rear of the car, but I wouldn't recommend that. I think you should call the spring's manufacturer and see what they will do for you. You will probably have to pay something, but I'm sure with the right springs you can get the...
