what kind of new/reman starter will retain the low pitch 5.0 cranking sound?

Yeah, it probably would, but why not get a NEW one from AutoZone with a lifetime warranty. That way you will have an unconditional warranty for the life of your car, and you won't have to deal with sending it back, or buying another new one if that one goes bad, and there isn't any downtime...

what kind of new/reman starter will retain the low pitch 5.0 cranking sound?

Go to AZ or something like that, and get a '95 Mustang Cobra starter, or a starter from a 3.8 T-bird. It's a PMGR starter and sounds great, I have one on my '73 and it cranks a lot better than my old starter. Here's a link where you can actually listen to the new starter & the old starter...

Needs some tips. Header gasket replacement.

Pb Blaster will be your friend through this. Because, if you don't use it:bang: :bang: I'd suggest soaking them at least an hour before you do it, soak the bolts and such, go grap a "refreshment" and then try them. I have a Cleveland I recently rebuilt, I got the engine out, put it on the...

    DEATH TO A FOX BODY

Looks like one of those "my daddy bought the car for me" D-bags, that like to show off and do stupid s*#t like this. I say *F* that guy, if he payed for the car himself, he probably wouldn't be in this predicament. I know we all like to show off and act a fool, but there is a time and place...

what size belt when you take out the smog?

True, I just figured with it being an LX, it had it and he didn't mention anything about the A/C.

what size belt when you take out the smog?

I would've thought the 84.5" would be the stock size. I remember now, one of the guys at work told me it takes a 77", so we got a 76, 77, and a 78", and we ended up using the 76" belt. It was a '89 GT 5.0 HO, power everything.

    Horrid Gas Mileage

Just FYI, if you haven't opened the code reader yet, you can check the codes with out it. Granted you have a check engine light and it isn't burned out, you can ground the small, single wire that is with the larger trapezoid looking OBD I connector. It is on the driver's side, by the MC, all...

what size belt when you take out the smog?

Pretty sure it's a 75-75.5" belt, I used a 76" on my boss's car, and it worked, untill the belt started to stretch. The tensioner got a little close to the WP. I'd get both, and see which one suits your needs the best.

    Horrid Gas Mileage

First off, double check the firing, I'm assuming it is a 5.0 HO, right? If so, 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8, double check that. Second, spray carb cleaner around the intake, throttle body, all the vac. hoses, etc. If you have any unseen or new vacuum leaks, they will show themselves by raising the...

    351C and 351W differences.

I ran an external line from the front of the block to the back when I built my Cleveland to feed the rear mains. I used a piece of 5/16 steel fuel line I had left over from my EFI swap.:spot:

    Regular Maintenance

As for the coolant, every 30K is the standard Ford recommends. As for the bearings, they are sealed hubs and are non-greasable.

    351C and 351W differences.

Nooooo, the Cleveland is a small block, it's a common misconception. It shares the small block bellhousing bolt pattern same as the 289-302-351W. The 351M-400 are the big block, the 351M is a destroked 400. There has been many a debates about this on several forums.

A/C condensation drips on exhaust.. Would that casue it to crack over time?

Yes, as a matter of fact, it can create a crack. I think 3.8 Mustangs are bad about it, a new manifold, or fixed manifold and a A/C drip deflector is installed. I believe Ford has a SSM or TSB about this. So, in short it is possible for it to crack due to the water, but many cars drip AWAY...

I was just told NOT to put a fuse on the power wire of a 3G alternator.

You can always run 2 strips of 12 GA fusible link wire. Make them about 6-8" long and run them parallel, Ford has done it this way for years, and is the way I set up mine. I have probably a year on it, and no problems.

    Small Case 3G

'95 Mustang Cobra. I've got the 3g small case on my '73, it fits perfectly where the old 60amp small case went.:stick: By far, one of the best things I've done to my car. It used to charge 12.8 with A/C and headlights on with the old alt., and went to 14.35 with everything on with the new...
