    Garage workshop setup

i can sometimes tend to over engineer stuff ... I am going with this way of organizing things: http://americanwoodworker.com/blogs/shop/archive/2009/08/04/hyper-organize-your-shop.aspx the beauty of this approach is that, so long as you can put a little 1/4" slat on the back of it, you can...

the nice thing about the positive displacement blowers (eaton) is the way the boost is there pretty much immediately. the bad thing is that they tend to run out of steam at the higher RPMs. how much fabbing would you need to do to get one on your lower? is this a daily driver? mostly stoplight...

    Simple compressor questions

heh, i returned the hose reel and am using a reel i had in the garage for an extension cord. it fits perfectly. so no need to mess around with twisting it as i coil it. i also returned the C-H impact wrench, so now i have no tools for it again. it is pretty useless for the moment.

kurt, that is the one thing i finally have now ... time to do stuff. this cleat system material has been very cheap: the 1x4s cost $15 and the anchors cost another $15. i have been able to re-use other wood that is already in the garage. i got the cleats and brackets on the wall, and the...

    18x9's or 17x some odds ???

I had 18s, and the cost of replacing the tires was astronomical. The same tires in the 17s were $30 less per tire. This was a few years back and the tires were the Toyo R888s. I would check the cost of getting just the tires (as though you already have the rims) and see what the cost...

Looks about the same price to me. The difference is that Sam's Club sells them 30 at a time, while you can order exactly the number of tiles you want from BigFloors.

    Garage workshop setup

I have the GarageTrak tiles from BigFloors.com: The tiles are 1'x1'; I did 2'x2' checkerboard (each square is 4 tiles) because the smaller (1'x1') pattern was too busy for me. My floor is about 630 sq ft, and it cost about $1300 for the tiles. This is right when we were moving in. I wish it...

Thanks Vib. Yes, I was talking about the way they come off when you pull a wrench off. And I do know about those little black tabs. They are a good idea, and they do help, but they used to pop out too, at least they used to back when i had a peg board. This was years ago ... maybe they have...

I know what you mean about the other being too busy. What did you do about the way the hooks pull out of the board so easily? I don't know why that bugs me so much.

what is that other big hole in the passenger's side fender (closer to the shock tower) for? i was thinking it was for the pipe from the intercooler, but now i see that i was wrong.

Yeah, that is what makes this approach so attractive to me ... it is extremely flexible. I'm not 100% sure I want a peg board. The way the hooks come off so easily bugs me, even if you use those little plastic hold down things. Another option would be 1x2s going across, sort of like this...
