    Stock MAM size and flow#s

When I still had a stock MAF, I believe I measured my '89 stock meter at 53mm id with a set of calipers...no way was it 58. I have some older manuals in my basement, I'll have to check, but I thought these said it was 53mm, as well.

Overheating - City Driving - HELP!

One other thing, which wasn't discussed was your air/fuel ratio. If it is running on the lean side (12.5-13.5:1) versus (11-12:1), it may run significantly hotter. Street engines running boost should run a "conservative" 11:1, or so. Race engines can be tuned a little more lean to gain power...

How many here run AFR 165's on 306's?

Got'em. See sig. A 65mm TB/EGR will be more than enough on a street/strip combo, 24# injectors, 70-73mm MAF, Performer intake, etc. would likely put out roughly 275-300 RWHP depending upon the tuning and other mods.

Have you had problems with you C&L MAF meter?

I've got a 76mm C&L. No problems once I figured out that they are sensitive to resonance and fanwash. The effect on the engine was a subtle miss and some erratic idle...but nothing like you appear to be experiencing. I made a sheet aluminum cover over my meter and airfilter...cured the problem.

    15x10 Wheels Too Big?

5.5" backspacing w/quads...tends to push the wheel/tire outside the wheel well. 6.5" backspacing w/o quads... :nice: Uh, yes you will have to roll the fender lips and maybe take a BFH to the inner fender...sorry. It kind of depends upon the tire that is sitting on that rim as some bulge out a...

Car Insurance for our stangs? Help..

One, get a written appraisal done on the vehicle (and every time you finish a major project like bodywork, suspension, engine, etc.). You have to look for someone who specializes in sports cars, classics, and such...not your local dealership appraiser. Be prepared to have all your proof of...

    IST Air Adjuster

Had one, used one, threw it out. It is used for fine tuning, unlike the Pro-M model. You have to have some form of air/fuel ratio meter to use it correctly. It DOES NOT like moisture and WILL shut your car down. You end up pulling it out of line to start the car again. That...

    adjustable rockers clacking?

You have to ask yourself, "Why are they clacking?" Is it the design of the roller rockers? Aluminum does have a certain resonance to it and will sound differently than steel, however, loud clacking is usually a result of the the roller tip not staying in contact with the tip of the valve. Is...

Is there a catch with 4V motors?

Alternative Auto Performance has done quite a few of these Fox body-modular swaps. Especially with the DOHC/SC combos. A fair amount of Alternative Auto's customers run a LOT of boost and receive custom tuning...that said, I believe that they usually end up with an aftermarket ECU like those...

Problems with idle after H/C/I, any suggestions.

A couple of things you could try: Simply adjusting the screw on the TB does allow more air into the system and raise the idle, BUT it throws off the TPS settings which should be around 0.96-0.99v when the TB is in a closed position. The TPS voltage can significantly effect idle and...

    adjustable rockers clacking?

3/4 turn and still clacking? Two things come to mind. One, did you soak those lifters in oil before installing them? If not, it may be that they just need some run time to get the oil going through them. That may "tighten" things up. Two, 3/4 turn may not be enough with some set-ups...

Aluminum flywheel, who's and how light?

"Aluminum flyweels I have heard are bad for launch but better after that.".... They are not "bad" for launch. The driver just has to launch differently than when using a heavier steel unit. I believe this is a particular issue with "underpowered" stock or mild engine combos, where the loss...

Problems with idle after H/C/I, any suggestions.

You're on the right track. 1. It may be that the idle air bypass valve is a bit gummed up. Replace it with a new one, try to clean it, or there is a idle air adjustment plate that can be installed on the IAB. You can get one from Ford or any of the major performance warehouses. 2. It...

Aluminum flywheel, who's and how light?

Aluminum flywheels, in general, are considered "high end" pieces. For that reason, I believe, that if you stick with a "name brand", you'll be happy. Most will knock 15-18lbs off a similar steel flywheel and are really nice for road racing, where the engine has to change RPM abruptly with...

    Torque arm/panhard bar question

"...It's my thinking that lateral location by a Panhard rod is actually a compromise compared to a properly set up Watts-link. As a practical matter, however, the Panhard is a reasonable compromise for laterally locating solid axles, and HIGHLY preferable to lateral location by angled upper...

    Torque arm/panhard bar question

I agree. A true race-style Watt's-link is not for your general "hobbiest" or "enthusiast" unless you are prepared to get the vehicle professionally set-up. I left a lot of this to the team at Griggs Racing. :nice: A panhard bar is rather easy to install, even for a "backyard mechanic"...
