    Stock Bolts on Shorty Headers

You can use the stock bolts.... but read the countless threads on exhaust leaks and upgrade your header bolts. Once those oem bolts are loosened it is just never the same. I originally had new ford gaskets with the OEM bolts and sure enough I had a solid exhaust smell within days of the...

    04 sits high in front

The height is not the issue for understeer I mentioned. If you have stock size tires/wheels and stock suspension - Stock height from floor to fender should be: 27.5" front, 28.25" rear. If your height is different than this you have worn isolators, aftermarket springs already, or your car...

    04 sits high in front

Assuming you have stock springs - lowering the front will likely always be a stiffer spring as well. This will result in more understeer which can be unnerving with spirited driving. If you are looking for a small drop there are several kits that offer a small drop & good balance front and...

    Need a custom tune

If you happen to have the free BAMA tunes or something similar - I’d use that. Exhaust mods are not going to be enough to cause any significant issues with your prior tune. I wouldn’t spend $400-$500 to dyno tune it for low single digit hp gains. Hold off until you have a power adder.

    Need a custom tune

They probably won’t tune it the way it is. Until you have a power adder there is not a big hp gain / buck for a Bolton car when you include the cost of the tuner and the dyno tune (usually $800 total for the tuner + dyno tune). If you don’t have big power adder updates in the near future I...

    Stroked or not???

I wouldn’t. The general guidance from this article is sound, has a section on stroking mod motors: http://www.enginelabs.com/features/clearing-up-mod-motor-misconceptions-with-john-mihovetz/ The mod motor makes power best with boost and RPM. With how small the difference in power is I would...

    Need Better Tires

Nitto is always a popular choice because of its bang for buck. I still have great traction in 2nd on their max performance NT05’s. The only downside is that I have to change out tires every 2 years because of the 200 treadwear. For a little more treadwear look at the NT555 G2’s. Great all...

    Build or Blower?

When I debated it - For the same money you are comparing 1) stay at the same power level for a ton of money or 2) increase ~100hp for about the same cost. I went with the blower first - I’d rather go faster. I kept the stock pulley on there. Keep your RPMs in the stock range, lower the boost...

    The lowly 2v dyno results

That is a great looking dyno curve. Congrats on the new numbers! You are probably under 3200lbs and with those numbers - should make some great times at the track!

    Help!!! 96 Rear suspension

How did the shock adjustments work for you?

    Help!!! 96 Rear suspension

QA1 has several spring rates and their shocks have a wide range of adjustment. I’m assuming you have these: https://www.qa1.net/suspension/street-performance-racing-shocks-struts-and-pro-coil-systems/rear-pro-coil-shock-systems/79-04-mustang-rear-pro-coil-system If that is what you bought than...

    Help needed

If you are looking for more comfort - I’d have a local upholstery place rebolster / remake your seats. Most with these types of cars are looking for more side support and better seating position. I went with a pair of corbeaus - they have a seat mount that makes install easy.

    Fuel Efficiency Tips

Fuel savings and performance can go hand in hand. There is plenty of snake oil out there (avoid that). For the engine just help it breathe easier with the most efficient air intake / exhaust possible. Beyond that weight savings is the best way to go (I like to keep all my trim so these are...

    (03 Gt Auto) Superchargers

It comes down to how you drive it - RPM is the number one killer of motors. My stock 2v shortblock has had no issues for 3 years of daily driving / highway onramp blasts under boost. For the OP - If you regularly are at redline or you spend a good chunk of time at the track then I would...

    Forced Induction

I bought a new vortech v3 si tuner kit for about $3k. Around $200 for a walbro 290lph pump. $250 for injectors. Already had a SCT tuner. I could have finished there but I bought a three row intercooler, aluminum piping, and a SCT MAF. Right over $4k for all new stuff not including the cost...

    (03 Gt Auto) Superchargers

I’d hold on getting gears. Save your money for your forced induction choice so that when you are at the power level you like you can pick the right gear for how you use the car. My car is mostly a street car so stock gears and NT05’s mean I still have traction on a warm day in second gear...

Auction Bought Cobra - Running Very Poorly

Hopefully it is just the fuel system from what you have found so far -black stuff pouring out sounds like fuel tank nastiness. Backwards fuel filter placement -yikes! If that car was sitting for a while that fuel pump and tank might be in rough shape. I’d drop that tank -take the fuel hat off...

    Opinions

Ported PI heads are a great improvement over stock. The trick flow heads take it even further and really shine in the upper rpm range (biggest benefit can be made above the stock redline). That being said - the stock PI heads work very well with forced induction / nitrous. Unless something is...
