67 stang already has v8 but not original

This is a 67 I'm talking about. I could understand a 65 or 66. But I've been told that the 67's had better suspensions, even in the I6's. But let's say I want to upgrade. What parts would you recommend? Can I buy them at say, Advanced Discount or autozone? Do I just go in and tell them it's for...

67 stang already has v8 but not original

Alright, I'm tring to do some research here. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong pages in this book? I see no diff. in the coils for a I6 or V8. The weight diff. is only about 50 lb.'s. It's a 302 they put in.

67 stang already has v8 but not original

Hey guys, bought this car a while back. Someone did a I6 to V8 swap but never did the brakes, ect. ect. I'm planning on just using this as a daily driver and not tring to show off or go fast. They did put on a dual exhaust system. If I'm just using this as a daily "take it easy" driver, How...

Does this mean I need to compress the spring more and jack the lower controll arm up? Or....Does something not sound right...

    Need help bad... Thumper... Someone

It won't work..... After trying everything I can think of, it just won't work. The studs on the stall converter would need to be 3/4" longer. And the pilot that goes into the crank needs to be concidered also. Andre at Edge Racing said that I could exchange the one I have but, I've already put...

hllon4whls, yep, went to the hardware store today. Sure enough, this old guy worked on cars his whole life also. I took one of the bolts for the stall converter. He showed me they have a locker at the end. I explained my situation and he went right to drawer and pulled out 4 nuts with lockers on...

hllonwhls, right now I'm grinding the bolts down. It's taking some time but, I'm shaving 1/8" off. Didn't think about going to the hardware store. probably could have saved myself some time. If I don't like what I see when I'm done I'll head to the store. Thanks for the reply.....

    Need help bad... Thumper... Someone

I'm trying, Ran into another snag tonight. After modifying the plate between the tranny and the engine, the nuts that hold the Stall Converter on still rub the plate. I mean just barely touch. Question.... Being called a flexplate, how much does it flex? I can probably grind off 1/8 to 3/16"...

    Need help bad... Thumper... Someone

Hey Thumper, Got the holes drilled tonight. It don't even look like I need a washer. The stall converter on the edges, lays against the flexplate. I suppose I could put 1 or 2 washers to make it solid. I can get 3 full turns on the locking nuts before they hit the plate to tourqe them down. Do...

    Need help bad... Thumper... Someone

I also see another potential problem. See pic #2. If I drill the hole where it is shown, Do I have to use some kind of spacer, cause it looks like it will be setting about 5/16" lower than normal. The studs on the Stall converter don't look long enough to use a spacer. Thumper, do you have a...

    More Stupid Noob Qs

I'd say it all depends on your money situation. Get to know your local J/Y people. They can be your best friends. If you can pick up a nice low mileage engine and have it redone, "if nessasary" that's the route I would take. As long as your engine is running now, why spend a ton of money on a...

    Need help bad... Thumper... Someone

Cool Thumper, the flexplate I have from the 85 motor looks like the one in the 2 pic. I just measured and it looks like its just a small mod to make. It looks to me as though the "plate" between the engine and tranny is going to have to be modded as well. That's where I was talking about the...
