That rot gut made me feel terrible for 3 days when I was a teenager. 37 years and it still turns me off to think about.

Progress Thread 1985 GT 5.0 Mustang Restoration/Bringing my dad's old car back to life

The plastic pieces inside the quarter panels are different also and don't fit as well unless you change out the quarter windows to the later style. It destroys the character of the car to make it look like a later model. Just my opinion, I appreciate them all but 4-eyed foxen have always been my...

Please don't go down this path. The '85-86 nose is the best looking fox body front end.

Progress Thread 1985 GT 5.0 Mustang Restoration/Bringing my dad's old car back to life

I've always understood that all 1986 Mustang 5.0 models had SEFI. All AOD equipped 5.0's in 1984-85 were CFI, with 5-speed cars of the same period using the Holley carb. Perhaps there was some carry over but I've never seen a documented example of the carb carryover from the factory into 1986...

I think a gear change is needed

I think that you are experiencing what many do after putting on a turbo. There is a need to get the gearing more suited to the new power curve. It's common to revert back to original equipment comparable ratio's with 3.27's being one of the more popular. Your car with the new power curve will...

    Engine Harmonic balanced slipped?

It's good to have this figured out. If the balancer has any wobble at all there is no need for further checks, it's in need of replacement.

Need pic of carb throttle and kick-down cable mounting.

Any factory Ford equipped with a 302 4-bbl & C4 from the '70's would help you. I have an '84 Mustang with 5.0, CFI, AOD, with TV rod in the garage. I can get you a picture of the linkage setup if that will help you, BUT, the CFI was essentially a 2-bbl and actually used a 2-bbl intake so it is...

Need pic of carb throttle and kick-down cable mounting.

C4 / C5 had kickdown rods only as far as I know. 1986 was the first year for a TV cable. In 1979 there were 2 different V8 engines available in the Mustang, different although similar.

Need pic of carb throttle and kick-down cable mounting.

Kruisr, that picture is of a CFI & TV rod setup for AOD equipped cars, not a car setup. The AOD first appeared in the Mustang in 1984 and only with CFI injection. The OP has a car from 1979.

When you are asking for help and pictures It would be helpful to provide a little more information about you car beyond the year. Mustang? Engine / transmission / carb / manifold / etc. That is if you want pictures of similarly equipped 1979 cars. ;) Lots of helpful people here.

    Well......sold my 93GT today

Nice car! It's always bittersweet to see one that you like go away. I will never let my Mustang go, I've had it too long. I've already let one of my sons know that he will inherit it one day.
