post the best way to build to get LOW END TORQUE!

Stock cam is really low on lift and duration. 2030 has a lot of lift, not much duration and lets you lug the motor down below 1500rpm without bucking, try that with an E cam... As said above, in a race you are mostly out of the 'torque' range, but the 2030 is still making power up to 5k or so...

Weight difference between Cobra and GT-40 upper intake??

I would say closer to 15lbs or more. The stock intake weighs a little more than the Cobra upper with the EGR etc on. It's enough that your back will like you if you use the GT40 Jamie

post the best way to build to get LOW END TORQUE!

Another very happy 2030 user. 1" spacer on a GT40 intake, good AFR 185 heads and longtubes, even running a cat pipe increased my torque output. The sig shows the old setup with an X. With a basic 7psi blower on top it pulls flat and hard. Dang thing give me a woody just rolling into the...

    Oil breather problems

Pull the filter out and look into the hole. If you can see the rockers then you need to pull the valve cover and fab a baffle to block the rockers from spraying oil up the the filter. Very common self inflicted malady. Jamie

Help me create the "Surging Idle Checklist"

Here are a couple quick pics of an IAC with the port mod sitting next to a stocker and the air die grinder I do it with. For an elaboration on the o2's. The two white wires on the o2 sensor are for a the o2 heater. Without them working ,especially on longtubes the o2's cool off at idle and...

You'll also need a cluster out of a V8 car for the correct tach.

Need a fender, where to buy?

Most aftermarket body parts are junk. I'd look in the yards for a good '90 up 4 pot OEM doner and be done with it.. Jamie

    Supercharging stock motor

Dyno results... I hit 319 with everything in the sig except the ignition, heads and cam on a dead stock longblock. Heads cam and ignition pushed it to 390 rwhp. Jamie

    351w bellhousing

'83-'93 T5 302 bellhousing will work. '94, 95 input shafts are longer and require a bell from one of those setups. Jamie

    68 302 block to a roller block

Ok, dastang is correct about the small base circle cam, didn't think about it because they are rediculously expensive for what you end up with.

    jacobs electronics coil........car not starting!!

As a quick TFI test you can loosen the distributor lock downand roll the body back and forth with the ignition key to 'on' and you should hear an injector fire and get spark. It's not 100%, but is easier that cranking the motor over and trying to check the spark that way. Jamie

206k miles...change timing chain or not?

Took me several years to build mine up. First year was pistons and cheap rings with a home port job on the heads and a hand file to knock the burned spots off the valves while they spun in a drill press (honest). Even ported the GT-40's lower intake a little. Put the used longtubes on. Next...

    jacobs electronics coil........car not starting!!

Slower and slower sounds like you managed to kill the battery... Since you didn't give a link to the original problem, only started a new thread I have no idea what you've done to cause the original problem or what you have done to troubleshoot it. #1 reason to keep a problem in one thread...

    Picking the perfect Throttle Body

Cool on the dist, dang funky motors... The 75 should feel fine with 408 cubes to feed. Feel like a 750 vs a 650 carb. Jamie

206k miles...change timing chain or not?

IMHO at that mileage I find another block and just start a bench rebuild and swap the whole works out. A timing chain swap is pretty pointless. As a check, remove your distributor cap and put a 15/16" socket on the balancer bolt and roll the crank back and forth to see how much play it has...

    Picking the perfect Throttle Body

Ditto the above, what about the distributor? Never played with a 400 except to junk out. With a 351w dist fit? That's the only other hang up I can see for you. Jamie

    68 302 block to a roller block

IN short, 'No' is the answer. The lifter bores are deeper on the roller motors to accomodate the taller roller lifter. If you put the roller lifter in an early block the lifter comes up and hits the H bar that connects the lifters to keep the rollers aligned with the cam. The H bars will fail...

Grinding Noise in all Gears while driving?

Recommend putting it up on jackstands to check for somehing rubbing the driveshaft. t's difficult to give an accurate armchair analysis from your desricption of the problem. Does it sound like it's in the tranny? Does the sound change under load, cruise, decell? Can you feel it in...

    Supercharged 306, 331, or 347

Ditto on the stock block blown strokers, plus the F cam isn't a very good cam for a street puter governed car because it lays an egg until it hit's about 3200rpm and you are half way out of R'rs. Been there, unhappy with that on a customers car. Not a very good combo unless you like the lopy...

    Supercharging stock motor

With the comboin the sig I got walked by a HCI coupe with all the right parts. Granted he would not drive on the interstate for long or drive it all day long, but I was gotten on a Saturday night... And that was one out of a bunch. Most of my races occur on the interstate and end when fourth...
