    Porting E7's

i have also read that just the EGR bump won't do a whole lot. The exhaust ports in E7's are pathetic - they only flow about 120 cfm. In order to increase that number, you'll need to open up the exhaust port to a larger size. If you have a set of headers, you can make a template out of paper...

Income tax, stang comes to life!

That ought to run real good. The only suggestion i have is 1.7 rr's (if you haven't already purchased the 1.6rr's) b/c the B cam has 480 lift. That will help you take advantage of the breathing ability of those heads. Do those heads have bigger valves? I also have 351w castings w/...

    General Tweecer question

The tweecer is a "reflashable" (i'm not sure if that's the correct lingo") chip that plugs into the service port on your EEC, just like an aftermarket chip would. The difference, the tweecer has a USB port that allows you to connect it to a laptop, and utilizing software that is available as a...

BIG BIG TRANNY PROBLEMS (I think) DEAR GOD HELP ME

okay so he did something dumb. Who here hasn't done a burnout? Doughnuts? Yanked the ebrake going down the highway? (okay so that last one wasn't such a good idea!) We've all done something stupid when adrenaline starts pumping the brain shuts off. I bet it was still fun. I watched a...

full aftermarket Fox body instrument clusters ?

Thanks for the tip on the painless kit evilgt. I had no idea it was going to be this easy! I checked my summit catalog last nite and the phantom speedo and tach are listed as a 3-3/4" face rather than a 3-3/8" like the cluster calls for. I'm hoping that's a misprint but probably not. I'll...

full aftermarket Fox body instrument clusters ?

all i have to figure out now is what guages would look good. I had my eye on the phantom series, but the procomp's look good too. I wonder how that aluminum piece would look powdercoated? It's pretty bright as it is. I checked out the link to the corral thread, there is a picture of the...

full aftermarket Fox body instrument clusters ?

So when the snow melts and i'm again able to work on my painfully slow 4cyl conversion, i would like to upgrade my instrument cluster. I think for about 4 bills, i can get autometer phantom guages for fuel, water temp, oil pressure, voltage, speedo and tach made for indash mounting (3-3/8" on...

    Cleaning gunk off valves

the easiest way is to just use a wire wheel on a bench grinder. Works like a charm.

Who here has done a "ghetto overhaul"?

you'd be amazed what you can get away with. The key is to make sure the crank doesn't need to be turned. If the main and rod bearings look good (i.e. no copper showing/grooves), then all you really need to do is clean everything REALLY well, and maybe splurge for new cam bearings. If you go...

ENGINE BUILDER SAYS i BETTER DO THIS!!

not that you asked my opinion on this - but the 24 pounders may be a touch on the small side. I would expect that combo, with a healthy cam and proper tuning, to be capable of 400 fwhp. If i am not mistaken, the 24lb stuff is safe up to around 360 hp. Just food for thought . . .

ENGINE BUILDER SAYS i BETTER DO THIS!!

Small block chevy's only use 7/16", and plenty of guys run wild 400 inch combo's with high compression, and no problems. The difference is SBC's have 5 bolts per cylinder, while the SBF only has the 4. You still shouldn't have any problems. I agree with the problems of drilling out the 7/16...

    AOD with B-cam

A friend of mine used to have a 93 cobra that he stuffed a b cam in, but it was a 5 speed of course. The only other mods was exhaust and southsides. I drove it both before and after, and i guess it made more HP after, but it was a TURD below 3500 rpm. It really killed the torque. Part of teh...

what pilot bushing for a 4 cyl t-5 into 5.0?

I gave my friend my t5 from my 4cyl - he has had bad luck w/ AOD-e's in his 95 (blown up 2 of them) and is converting to t5. He eventually will put in a heavy duty t5, but is going to run the one i gave him for a short while. I know the input shaft is a different diameter than the v8 where it...

    Cleaning out cylinder/Pistons..Lots of help

i think a few more details would be helpful - is this an assembled shortblock - or is it dissasembled? I assume you are referring to a dissasembled motor. Carb cleaner - the type you buy in a bucket that is meant for soaking an entire carburetor - works well for loosening up the grime on the...

    Compression Ratio too much?

I would stay away from 58cc heads if you are going to be 10.2:1 w/ a 61cc chamber. Many times though, the comp. ratios listed are higher than actual - probably so the manufacturer stays on the safe side of things. The only way to know for sure is to run a quick calculation. Determine the cc's...

this moron cracked his AOD housing - general AOD ? inside

Well I called a reputable welding shop - I was told "no problem - we weld lots of those AOD's up - people crack them all the time". He estimated $80 based on my description of the crack and said he could get to it when the shop opened up on the 5th of january. (closed starting tomorrow for a...

this moron cracked his AOD housing - general AOD ? inside

You may have runined the front pump and the converter. Great - another reason to try and exchange the converter. I am curious about the exchangeability of the converter between a 92/93 trans. Anyone know anything about this? As you can see - i don't know what i am doing with these stupid...

this moron cracked his AOD housing - general AOD ? inside

Jim, You are correct - i bolted the converter to the flexplate first. I've always had stick cars (even the beaters), and doing it that way made sense to me - although it appears that's the bass-ackwards way of doing it. If i can get the converter exchanged, i guess i'll be experimenting...

this moron cracked his AOD housing - general AOD ? inside

For my 28th bday i ruined my transmission. I think i may have the wrong converter - i noticed in several ads that converters for AOD's are listed up to the 92 year 5.0. I have a 93 trans but i did not give it thought when i ordered teh converter. Anyway - my good friend and i were bolting...
