    lousy engineers....heater core

 Amazing comments....remove two control cables, four bolts hold the casing to the firewall, one bolt under the dash for a support, remove the vent tube, defrost vent and floor vent and it falls out. I don't know what your doing that makes it such a job, but when I followed the shop...

    t-5 first gear opinions

I'm using the 94-95 with the 3:35 first along with the 3:55 rears and as previously said 1st is almost useless for street use. I would like to try going back to the 3:00 and check drivability for a comparison, but have other priorities right now. Dave

    69 Winsor heads on a 77

Here's an article I used for my 351 to 302 head conversion. Has the part numbers for push rods, bolts etc. Ford Racing can also provide the correct pushrod part numbers and I know ARP carries the correct head bolts. Dave http://www.geocities.com/cobra_2_76/articles/headp11.jpg...

    Vacum Secondaries on Holley 600 in a 77 '2

If you have a cam that doesn't create much vaccum then you need get a secondary spring kit and put a lighter spring in there to get them to open with less resistance.

    Vacum Secondaries on Holley 600 in a 77 '2

I had thought about installing a micro switch around the vacuum can to sense if they were opening. Hook it to a temporary light in the interrior for testing, would then also tell you what RPM it opens. Switch would ground or unground the light depending on how you wire it. Also with the car...

    combustion problems - HELP

Yes you did and I missed it by focusing on your accurate carb comments. I had an autolite quadrajet, which cracked a bowl causing my 72 Mustang to run like crap. Dave

    combustion problems - HELP

Short answer it runs!!! Seems the coil was not dead, worked but just barely enough to hide its problems....here's what transpired. Well went back to the drawing board and started over with the spark. Re-checked the magnetic trigger on the box and got a good spark with a plug in the coil...

Where do you guys get your Mustang II parts?

I think that goes back to creativity on our part. He probably quoted NOS parts. But you know there are THOUSANDS of clips and pins out there, you just have to look around. Most II's would be grounded unless most parts were interchangeable. We don't hesistate to install aftermarket...

Where do you guys get your Mustang II parts?

As far as your comment on the prices PHil charges, as the commercial says, you get what you pay for. If he's doing the work to accumulate a good supply of parts, buying cars, hitting salvage yards, aren't we paying for that service??? You also must not be watching the prices of parts for...

    combustion problems - HELP

Key way fine....I even took a hack saw to it...now just cut a small groove between both sides of the harmonic balancer halves to make sure it's not moving. If the 30 degrees of advance got stuck and it would only run with 30 degrees of initial advance, then moving it to 10 degrees should make...

:bang: Bad news....nothing wrong in timing chain area. Cam pin intack and properly aligned. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I guess I'll put it back together, re-check all parts of the distributor, lube it up. Recheck MSD box is working, re-align the distributor to #1, and...

    combustion problems - HELP

99% sure yes, there's always that lingering doubt/possibility something was overlooked. I'm tearing down the front end tonight and at a minimum I'll at least be able to eliminate a variable. You did remind me that the alignment pin wasn't as tight as I expected and from the perspective of...

    combustion problems - HELP

Turns out distributor gear is ok. Tapped the retaining pin out and looks fine. Now I'm wondering if I sheared or bent the dowel pin. I was reminded that it did feel loose in the cam when I put the new chain on a couple years ago. Hopefully didn't mess the cam up, and will just need a new...

    combustion problems - HELP

Wasn't the pin. Pulled the distributor last night, gear was tight. Decided the best way to check to see if the pin was sheared to was to try and drive it out. Three taps and out the pin popped intact :damnit: , hole real nice adn round. Put it back together, so tonight I tear the front of...

    combustion problems - HELP

I figure you'll find the distributor gear is spinning on the shaft because if you're missing 15 degrees of cam gear there wouldn't be **** left of it. OH yes, cam and drive gears are perfect, no wear or missing teeth. So I'm hoping I can turn the gear on the shaft. Has to be a much easier...

    combustion problems - HELP

Didn't the first box go two decades? Yes I guess it did!!! Another funny thing is there are some real junk boxes out there, and I've seen some real junk with Ford written on it. I was sort of counting that with Ford Racing and MSD names both on the box it would be reliable....guess...

    combustion problems - HELP

My problem with the pin was a long time ago! To get it running I had to move it to 30 degrees advanced as registered on the balancer. If I moved it back to 10-15 it would die. Rev up, yes it would at 30 degrees...notice I said it would. No longer running at even 30, which points to either...
