    What welder?

yes on the mig, unless you can afford a tig (though not sure how they do on sheet metal). I think mig will be the easiest for sheet metal.

    What welder?

I got a clarke mig (w/ gas). It was the cheapest one, no issues with it.

Looking for a Cowl Hood. Who to buy from?

I know vfn will add a scoop to the hood. Not sure if they have a cowl scoop to add. Are you set on a cowl. Like I said I bought the snorkel from usbody on sale for I think $250. It is tallerr than I wanted, but it'll work. I would have cost quit a bit more to get a shorter scoop installed...

trying to salvage windows and trim

I started getting my windows ready to put back in (quarter windows, doors, front and rear). The front and rear are not too bad. The sides on the other hand I am not happy with. They have some extreme water spots that I can't get off with Windex. I also tried a drill with some really fine...

Looking for a Cowl Hood. Who to buy from?

When I was looking up22 had numerous unhappy customers, I couldn't find anything positive. Not only was fit a problem they weren't taking stuff back. I don't have any personal experience with them, so they might be great.

Looking for a Cowl Hood. Who to buy from?

I used usbody for the snorkel hood, some fitting req'd. I used VFN for my deck lid. I stretched my quarters and had a slightly larger hole than stock. My steel deck lid wouldn't fit afterwards, so don't know if VFN fit well. VFN was better quality, but they sent me the wrong deck lid. After...

    Patch Material - need suggestions

best would be to get the actual piece. if it is small and or doesn't exist there are a couple online companies that sell sheet metal. it seemed it was cheaper and better than buying a body part and hacking it up. (Can get thicker gauge if necessary, not painted, flat, etc.--> better for me)...

thinkin of leaving the windshield molding off, questions

not looking to make a "rat rod" unfinished car, just smoothing some things out on the car, and limiting the chrome. Anyways I put the glass in just to have a look, not happy with the front, but the back looks pretty good. The car is far from perfect, it was a learning project for me (and still...

thinkin of leaving the windshield molding off, questions

I like the look, and it'll work will with my car. I am trying to limit the chrome. I shaved the drip rails. Anyways, anyone have pics up close of one without the molding on?

    SPRAY GUN PURCHASE

check the cfm requirements, not enough and it'll tend to orange peel more. astro and asturo both make a lvlp. I got a an asturo. They require less air than a hvlp, but work the same. Great for smaller parts. The down side is you get less spray out the gun, which sucks for full panel stuff...

will 67 door locks fit in 65/66?

the 67 kit did not come with an ignition, and 65/66 kit does. the 67 kit was cheaper. ok, they looked to be the same diameter, and the mechanism was on the same side. I have no ignition in my car, I welded the hole closed and now use a push button ignition on a painless switch panel. I...

will 67 door locks fit in 65/66?

I am trying to make an order tonight. The 65/66 come as a kit with the ignition, which I don't need (push button now, painless switch panel). So I was thinking about using the 67 locks instead.

    synthetic oil

don't run a flat tappet, but know people who do and have wiped a lobe after break in. Also, know those who haven't and don't run oil with zinc. The $10/per oil change, or added cost of the other brands of oil are much cheaper than a new motor (or the cost to fix one with a wiped lobe), just...

    2+2GT--painting question

Dennis, I assume you mean the piece between the deck lid and the rear window? If so it does not include the frame below. I replaced mine, I think there was some spot welds on the under frame pieces, also in the corners where it connects to the quarters, and then some on the front too. I'd...

    synthetic oil

hyd or solid cam? (non-roller); seems several people have been loosing cam lobes due to a lack of zinc in newer oils. Maybe look for something with zinc, I think Royal Purple and Brad Penn both have it (both have synthetic).

Anyone ever heard of these heads?

I bought some many years ago for around 1800; they were used but freshened with a full port job. Back then that was about the best head out there, and the price was right. I sold them a year or so ago for about $800 and bought some TEA TFS 225 high ports. I wouldn't put anymore money in them...
