    Engine build-up suggestions

If you want a real ground pounder and still some streetability I would say go with a FRPP 347 Short Block, add heads, cam, intake and carb of your chioce. Depending on how you built it you could realisticly put 450hp to the flywheel. You could build this for around 5K with quality stuff. The...

    c-4

The other "early" C-4 difference is that some, referred to as the "green dot" C-4, had to be pulled into the equivalent of "2" on a modern tranny to be able to take off in 1st gear. Otherwise if you were to pull an early C-4 into "D", you would take off in 2nd gear. As I understand it this was...

    Grant Steering Wheels

Santa dropped off that wheel to me on Saturday. I'll let you know how installation goes. Looks straight forward in looking at the instructions. FYI - Johns Mustang in Texas will take your old wheel remove the plastic and replace it with walnut for around $150. They quote a 3 week turn...

    SoCal Toy Run

Anyone going on the toy run tomorrow? If your interested were meeting up at Sunset Ford in Westminster @ 9am. Were hitting CHOC and Torrance Childrens Hosp. and a few under-privaleged families will get personal deliveries to their homes as well. It is a real feel good morning and the kids...

    Oil Pan Capacity

I am getting full with 4 qts including the filter. 4qts maxs out the dip stick level after it has been ran. Wrong dip stick? What is a way to know how full it is if I doubt my dip stick?

    Oil Pan Capacity

I was wondering as I was changing my oil on Sunday.....is it normal for a stock pan to only hold 4 qts? I thought it was supposed to be at least 5? I change the oil about every 6 weeks wheather it needs it or not and use Mobile 1 with a K&N filter. The engine runs fine, even after the recent...

    Gear ratio advice

I think the C-4 would be fine. 325hp shouldn't kill it too quick anyways. Your 8" will probably give before the tranny, but that is highly debateable! Like allcar said, put a mild stall in it, maybe 22-2400. With a C-4 and 3.83 gears you'll be sreaming anything above 60mph, might consider...

    TCI Street Fighter is in!

Chris, Likewise, it's always fun to meet up with those you only know from behind a comp. screen. The peg leg isn't going to be for long. I'll be spending too much on Goodyear Tire & Rubber company products! That 2200 stall launches the FB like a rocket. I really am amazed. I can't...

    TCI Street Fighter is in!

I went with a 2200 stall, and it seems real happy with it. The cam recommeded stock stall, so 2200 being just a bit higher seems to be working nice.

    TCI Street Fighter is in!

TCI is in and it rips. The 40 year old C-4 just wasn't happy with the new engine mods. Now it can smoke the rear tire until I get sleepy. Man, now I really want my rear end. The one wheel peel isn't working for me!

Coast High, Roush, or Ford Cobra Engine??

A little side note on CHP.. Superformance in Costa Mesa, CA used to buy most of their engines from them for their cobra replica's. Then CHP got a new engine builder and Superformance started having problems with the engines. The comp. ratio's were way too high. They were advertising 10.0 and...

Spark Plug Choice for Aftermarket Heads

What plugs are you guys with alum. heads using? I'm currently running the original style BF-42 plugs, but don't know if I might get more benefits with a platinum plug install? My set up is in the sig.

    Puttin' her away

Most penetrants and lubes are petrolium based, so it may not be too far from the truth, all I know is that it works fine, and does well to preserve the carb when sitting for a few months.

    Puttin' her away

Quote: Honestly, filling the carb with WD-40 sounds like more work than rebuilding it. Huh??? It takes about 2 minutes to take out the srews on the side of the float bowls and spray the WD in, then put the screws back in. I'm not seeing that as being the same as a rebuild

    Puttin' her away

The best things I've ever learned about storing a car is: 1. Sta-Bil in the gas tank. 2. Run all the gas out of the carb., then fill the float bowls with WD-40. Makes a great presrvative for the seals, and won't gum anything up. 3. Put the car away with frsh oil, and change it again when...

    Rear End Dilemma

Whoa...9" built and installed....$2,350.00. Far cry from the $1,200 8", but sounds like the way to do it right! And I don't think it could get much better than Currie doing the build and install.

    Rear End Dilemma

Well, Currie made my deceision much easier: Quote: "300 h.p. is the maximum h.p. level that we recommend on the strongest 8" we can possibly build. We do not generally recommend putting a lot money into them unless this is a pretty mild street car on radial type of application." "We...

How much difference do gears REALLY make?

OK, 9" it is. I'm going to call Currie today to get a quote. I love SoCal, sometimes, as Currie is only 30 min. from me. This post has been great, and I've deceided on a 9" with 3.55 gears, and I think a locker, as the limited slip diffs. sound like they are prone to fail after some abuse...
