    What's the best oil?

Holy crap! Why is someone suggestion oil viscosity set by Ford at the OE level? I can almost guarantee any new ford engine has way tighter bearing clearances than an after market, machined and built engine. I agree listening to the machinist who worked the block, but even that should be...

    Quick spark plug wire question

I believe that extra wire is for a different style coil to cap "plug ends". Could be wrong...

    What's the best oil?

I drove my race car to the track twice a week for 3 years. Never had an oil issue that was Royal Purple's fault. I changed my oil every 2000 miles or when I needed to service a part within the oil system. My "street car" ran 10.20s. I believe in Royal Purple. Is it the best? Who knows, but...

    Wheel Question

You'll need at least 6.5" backspacing, and you still might have to roll just the lip. I believe your rear fender is a "double panel" design, so you won't be able to fender roll the whole lip... just the small edge. I think you'll still rub. I shortened my housing tubes because I didn't want...

What is the vacuum stuff behind the pass strut tower

My setup is just as Meyers described it. I removed it all... now that I'm carbed in my 86' 5.0.

    Bad T5?

Reads like you have worn synchros and a bent shift fork.

    rear end gearing

I understand now that I read it that way.

    rear end gearing

I don't think that will work well trying to decipher the "transmission's" gearing:shrug:

    rear end gearing

The ID tag bolted to the case flange. You will have to decipher it or call if you don't know the codes.

    408 Stroker Questions.

Look for identifying marks which the "balance tech" would have made. Mine was done locally, but there were still marks on everything where he had them during the balance. It's common to be within and not more than a half gram on everything. But I wouldn't put money on that assumption.

Aftermarket Cooling fans to toggle switch?

The best and safest method is to install a relay which takes the current away from the switch.

Swapping an 86 5.0 into an 87 GT?

I do know the 86' is speed density and the 87' is MAF.

    Engine Rebuild Kit- Bearing Sizes?

Bearing kits are damn expensive. I suggest you get the rotating assembly out and inspected prior to buying bearings for it. You or your machinist will then know what you need. It may be std, oversize or a new crank... you just won't know until it's in your hands, cleaned and mic'd.

    8.8 gear oil change

LOL.... so disregard the warranty and put whatever in there? Who's going to take responsibility if the gears go?

    8.8 gear oil change

To keep your warranty, you probably need to follow your shop's recommended fluid and level plus friction modifiers if required.

question before I go further in putting my engine back together

It should take about 25 to 29 ft/lbs to turn the short-block assembly. I set the thrust with a big ol' hammer on the crank... but that's just me and few others I keep company with. Don't be afraid to generously oil that bitch up. Lay a bunch of old newspaper on the floor.

Help, my Tweecer won't connect to my laptop

I imagine you're using the serial comm port on the laptop. In order for your IO data to pass, the data bits must be flow at the correct volume (baud rate). In the setup table, I'm thinking you must be at either 2400,4800 or 9600.

Help, my Tweecer won't connect to my laptop

I don't Tweece, but I'm wondering if you need to have the correct Baud rate?

    coilover guys, chime in

Here's the real facts. Springs are supposed to deliver a rate. Say you have a 12" spring with a rate of 200lbs. That is 200lbs per inch of compression per side. So, if your front weighs 2000#, that's 1000# per side. If your strut travel = 6", then you need the spring to compress 3" at ride...
