    also i wouldent take it past 5,000 RPM all the time, it will decrease engine life.. maybe the previous owner knows something but it sounds like you have steep gears, you'd probably want 3:08's for highway driving or 3:55's if you stay mostly in town with lower speed limits

    the arlington yard has about 4-5 79-86 stangs, 2 coupes, one capi, etc...i know they had lots of explorers but i dont remember seeing any of the newer 99 style, and no 5.0 explorers i know of...they should have it in their list though if you call em or just show up, they said closed new years...
