oh no. I didn't mean it like that. It was an informative discussion. =)

so i guess I was half wrong and half right. 300 dollars is cost to ford, not the end user. but the stereo is in fact 300 dollars cost to ford (they're crazy, lol) so the actual cost the IRS components would raise the car up to around 1300 dollars base. that's substantial for a low cost sports...

An intresting article on the 05 in the Winnipeg Free Press.

I look at it like this. the winnipeg writer reads some footnote about Tha-Tang stating that an IRS for the new mustang would cost Ford 300 dollars. Engineers tend to look at things diffrerently then marketing people. Its always about what this and that costs Ford, they generally don't worry...

This is why writers are writers and not engineers. 300 dollars at COST is a hell of a lot more money then a 300 dollar RETAIL sound option. that 300 dollar retail option could be at 400% over cost possibly even higher. meaning it only really costs Ford 50-70 bucks at COST for a 300 dollar...

hot rod? isn't that a chevy-centric mag? what do they know? anyways, a 20,000 dollar v8 mustang is different then say 20,000 dollar GT mustang

Notice how the new models always make the current models look outdated?

most of us like the look, but the point we are just trying to prove is that they just don't look ANYTHING cosmetically like the original mustang. Ford had this generic Escort looking style during the 80's and most every car had this boxy look.

Notice how the new models always make the current models look outdated?

the 99-04 was considered "retro" with a "new edge" style. 2005 and 99-04 are a lot more similar then say the 94-98 and 2005.

    The $20K V8 thread

Actually you bring up a good point and gives me reason to think that caranddriver editor purposefully choose those numbers tactically. Once people start talking about a 17,000 dollar v6 and 20,000 dollar v8, it will force Ford to come out with price sheets sooner. Reason being, if those values...

yes, i have no love for caranddriver either. i am as skeptical as they come. i should have rephrased my statement.

you are right, but mms://ron-01.media.globix.net/COMP000787MOD1/caranddriver/autoshows/2004/naias/04naias_csaba_mustang_l.wmv take it for what its worth. we won't know until its in the dealership, but you have to admit if the editor in chief of CarandDriver thinks it will be priced this...

the difference is not 1,000 dollars. the base model v6 will be 17000 and the base model v8 will 20000

    The $20K V8 thread

come to think of it a 20k stripped down bare bones v8 machine makes sense. It's direct response to the Neon SRT-4. Which in my opinion holds the price to performance crown right now. (not that I would buy it though)

v6 will have dual exhaust outlets. (note outlets, not true duals) i mean, cmon, hyundai tiberons have dual exhaust outlets. something like this on a v6 is not far fetched.

hmmm, 235/55/17 wheels? this starting to make me think this is the v6 we are looking at... espcially the way the car sits and when turning. it seems its only packing a V6. just a hunch... dimension wise, the car/chassis looks like very, very similar to the jaguar x-type imho. minus the four...

Anyone know if you can run the cobr/bullet brakes with....

the only benefit from the 99+ Cobra/01 Bullitt brake system is less fade from the larger rotor. stopping distance will be the same. check out a few mags who performed measured tests; they're relatively the same. most people get the brakes for looks. (fills larger wheels better) remember...

Tire Size Calculator You will be fine at stock ride height. It looks better lowered though. I would not go any wider then 265/35/18 in the front when lowered. The backs are a different story. ride quality on less then perfect roads goes down the tubes if any wider in the front. speaking...
