WARNING!!! Predator Tune May Be LEAN...

That was my concern... There is not a tuner in my area that I would trust. You ask why, they wanted to measure my a/f after the cats. :nono: I informed them that the readings may be skewed by the cats and they responded that they do it all the time and don't have any problems... Needless to...

    Fuel Pressure??

Exactly... I think everyone, with a 99+ 4.6, needs to know that the computer is actually the fuel pressure regulator. fuel pressure sensor (controller input) to Computer (PID control loop) computer output (PWM variable voltage, aka controller output) to fuel pumps and affects fuel pressure

    Fuel Pressure??

99+ have a fuel pressure sensor referenced to manifold absolute pressure (vacuum). That way ford only has to use one sensor and they are measuring the differential pressure across the injector. It is a really simple but ingenious way of measuring differential pressure.

KB 14# Does anyone else see heat issues

Could your coolant temp be rising also? I am sure that it is a variable in the timing equation. Your data looks like what would be expected... IAT rises, timing is retarded (slightly). If you have a thermocuple or rtd and a good meter (fluke, etc) you might want to measure the the water...

WARNING!!! Predator Tune May Be LEAN...

It (lean) is a relative term meaning more air and less fuel than someone would like. Stoichiometric Combustion (gasoline engine) is 14.7air to 1 fuel. That is a ratio of air to fuel. Air-Fuel Ratio (definition) Air-Fuel Ratio is frequently used in the analysis of the combustion process...

WARNING!!! Predator Tune May Be LEAN...

raykrv6a, Your tuner is partially correct. Ford computer control systems have two basic modes of engine control open loop and closed loop. Closed loop is used whenever you are just driving around normal (not WOT). This kind of control strategy uses the factory O2 sensors to tell the computer...

    Fuel Pressure??

You might have to think about this a little before it is clear. Fuel pressure is always maintained at 39psi across the injector. That means the difference between one side of the injector to the other is 39psi. Remember at idle you have quite a bit of vacuum in the intake manifold and top...

    02 GT SPECS

My 02 Gt (800 miles) with magnaflows would run 14.4 - 14.7 @ 94-96mph. The ambient temp has a lot to do with et.

WARNING!!! Predator Tune May Be LEAN...

raykrv6a, If your tuner used a tailpipe sniffer (wideband O2) and you do not have an o/r H or X pipe the cats will skew the a/f readings. With my stock tune the a/f loves to be between 13 & 13.5. I would immagine that most stock GTs are arround 13-13.5, there would be no need for the...

WARNING!!! Predator Tune May Be LEAN...

I just reinstalled the preformance tune and it is doing what I initially described... Leaner than stock but that is what it is supposed to be doing. I guess it would be kind of hard to produce more power without being leaner. It just bothers me being at 14 a/f & WOT 4000rpm... But other...

WARNING!!! Predator Tune May Be LEAN...

I am using the stock MAF... The C&L MAF was only used at the track. The 14.07 sec 1/4 time was using the C&L MAF & magnaflows. I guess my sig could be misinterpurted. My air intake is completly stock down to the air silencer. I will go and install the predator performance tune again and...

Any tips on installing O/R x-pipe? Help.

Like others have said... It can be done by a shadetree mechanic. I installed mine yesterday. It was a PITA because the dealership partially stripped the passenger side top manifold bolt. I didn't think I would ever get enough penetrating oil in there to break it loose. Also the top O2 sensor...

I cant find the exhaust files at mustangexhaust.com

I just installed a MAC o/r H pipe... OMG it is loud and raspy. I would assume that the X would be even raspier. I am concerned that it might be to loud... I am sure I will get used to it. :D

WARNING!!! Predator Tune May Be LEAN...

I just finished installing a wideband O2 meter. That is the good part. The bad part is that the predator tune (r50b) is causing a lean condition. It is not bad enough to cause detonation in my case but it was leaner than I would like. At 3000rpm WOT the a/f was 15 it dropped to 14.5 by...

    02 Mustang GT Flat Spots?

No "slow as sin" is caused by the extra 5% drivetrain loss of an auto and the extra weight (eventhough slight). You would know it if you had a flat spot at 4K rpm...

    02 Mustang GT Flat Spots?

Yup.. Yea I have that exact same issue @ 4K rpm. It is not the trans slipping it is a flat spot in the power curve. My predator tune is causing the flat spot issue. I use the factory tune and it gets better. I figured it was an a/f ratio issue, going rich at 4K. Oh well I will have the...

    where to buy J-Mod parts?

streetstang03, not to be rude but have you done the J-Mod? If you had, I would have thought you would have answered the question differently. I needed several other things/parts that I could not get at Ford: Small drill bits for drilling separator plate - hardware store Two Jacks Jack...

    Window Squeek

Don't freak out and do something stupid like pulling the door panel... Window squeak is a very common problem. Get a can of pure silicone spray, roll the window up and pull the window seal back a little and spray at the corners. FYI I learned this from my local Ford service tech. I was...

    when considering nitrous... consider what?

When it comes to a/f some shops do not know what they are doing. A local shop wanted to just stick the O2 sensor in the tail pipe. That would have been ok if I didn't have cats. A quick way to check the calibration of a shops a/f meter is to look at idle a/f (once the car has warmed up & gone...

    when considering nitrous... consider what?

I must slightly disagree with LS2 KLR. You need to know what your a/f ratio is when N2O is being injected. If your a/f is 10-12 you are rich enough and do not need a custom tune. As always 12.5 a/f will produce more power than 11.5 a/f, but 15+ a/f will surely melt something (usually spark...
