    Need better gas mileage...

what kind of fuel pump do you have? edelbrocks can't run over 6psi of fuel pressure because it will open the needle and seats and dump gas in your engine. Also, what is your timing at? Does it advance?

    rocker arm play

no need to prime the oil pump at all. Just dump a little oil in the rocker and you're good to go. When you install even brand new lifters, they tell you to NOT pour oil in them or submerge them in oil before install. They are supposed to be started dry.

Can I use my stock Lifters - 347 build

haha, sounds like you and your engine builder have your work cut out for you. But yeah, if you have the coin, by all means get better lifters. The stock replacement ones should work fine, but I am inclined to think there are better ones out there. Everything depends on the pocketbook.

    Ford Newbie - Intake gasket - '68 289 4bbl

I have used the rubber and cork end gaskets successfully too, but not 100% of the time I use them are they successful. Using a simple bead of RTV has made life much easier for me in that department.

Changing My fuel LIne Please Help!!!!!!

Keep in mind that if you are doing this for performance, you are wasting your time unless you have a 500hp serious motor. Stock 5/16 line feeds my 450hp 347. If you are just replacing old line junky line for a stock engine, you might consider just replacing it with the stock size unless you...

    quick exhaust question

nobody I know has ever had a roadside inspection, and I have never heard of one actually being conducted. If you ask me, cops probably refuse to do it because most don't even know what they are looking at. But maybe they have been done, I don't know. If you hollow out a stock H-pipe, the...

did you make sure to check your pushrod length was good and are you sure you followed the proper procedures for setting the rockers? wait, is this in your 96 or your 88? Little more information would be nice

Can I use my stock Lifters - 347 build

as I said in your other thread, unless your lifters have 200,000 miles on them, re-use them. $120 is a lot of money to some people.

    Camshaft - Emissions - 347 - Timing Set

how many miles on your stock lifters? I would just re-use them unless they are like 200,000 miles. The b-303 is not emissions legal, and I don't think the TFS stage 1 is either technically, but I do think it should pass the sniffer. The E-303 is sold as an emissions legal cam, but personally...

    cam bearings install

typical speed shop shouldn't charge more than 20 bucks to install them for you, if you want to go that route.

Used heads... how to tell if stem seals/retainers/valve locks/etc are okay?

Locks and retainers you can visually inspect yourself for obvious dings, deformities, or anything along those lines. Also inspect the valves where the locks seat in and look for burrs. As far as valve seals, I would replace them with new ones regardless of the miles on them. Curious why the...

    piston choice problem

First of all, if those pistons were so bad, they would not sell, and would not even be listed. Secondly, why would you destroy the piston by drilling holes in it? If the hole needed to be there, the piston manufacturer would put it there. By drilling a new hole for what YOU think would be...

Ok timing again on a 85 GT?

This is a good suggestion. It's also a really dumb idea to buy/adjust parts for "future" mods because in the meantime you are losing performance or hurting your engine. Especially something so easy to change like spark plugs.

Ok timing again on a 85 GT?

85's have really low compression, that's why. But yeah, disconnect the vacuum line going to the carb, then set your timing to 14 degrees (that's where mine liked it when stock) and see how that works out for you.

    several questions

simple. radiators are painted black most of the time because they would look utterly ridiculous as any other color. They are only even painted to keep them from rusting, which is true of most parts that are not supposed to have cosemetic value.

    help cant figure this out

Well, I think it is pretty obvious to start there. After you thoroughly inspect everything and go over the installation instructions, call vortech and tell them your problem.

    several questions

the colors black and white do not absorb or deflect heat differently. They absorb or deflect light energy differently, which translates into heat. Since your fan clutch won't be seeing any sunlight, it won't make any difference. The only difference it will make is if properties of paint (any...

    several questions

ok, what makes you think black paint will help to absorb heat? I have to ask the tell all question again, if it did anything, wouldn't the manufacturer do it? Are you running a C-4? no need to "stiffen it up". You can make improvements, like the shift kit mentioned already, other than that...
