    on a dyno i posted a while back on equal length vs shorties, the shorties made more lowend up to about 2800 and made a little more topend from 5000+. only about 2 hp more in both the low end and topend. in the midrange it actually fell back about 2-3 hp so on average it made the same.

    with the 1.7's youll be at .529. I dont know about clearance tho, someone else must have run this set up before. everyone will say tho that you should double check with clay anyways to make sure the valve wont hit the piston since everycar can be different, especially with tolerance stacking.

    the hex head of the lock nut shouldnt go down far enough where the socket will hit the roller rocker. are you using regular nuts on there??

    have you tried spinning the spring. maybe the pigtail is in the wrong location. could be twisted unibody (doubtful but possible) or bent or broken control arm(s).

    are you sure your plug wires arent grounding? when i had those cheap ass "lifetime" spark plug wires, with the lights off outside in the dark, you could see the spark jumping to anything metal really, like A/C bracket, intake manifold, valve cover, you name it. and this was with ALL the wires...

    ive read that the computer only needs to read about 2.7v higher than the idle voltage to consider it WOT, so WOT would be about 3.7v or so, depending where it idles at.

    how high your lookin to spin the motor should have an influence on what gear you should go with. I always got way worse milage lugging around in a higher gear in town vs. just letting it rev at about 2500ish.
