    Not enough power... In 2005

Yes, the car magazines ALWAYS have the best drivers, especially for high performance AWD turbocharged cars  Sure it will run a 13.3 if you granny start it. Getting a good launch in a car like that MR is not something that can be done with one of these "magazine racers" who are not used...

    Not enough power... In 2005

Hmmm? The new MR edition Evo does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and the quarter in 12.7 so I dont think ANY Volvo or Focus is going to come anywhere near that AWD turbo or not, those are Z06 times there. Then when you consider that they tweaked the MR to handle even BETTER than the base Evo, you are going...

    Not enough power... In 2005

You can count me on that hand right now. After seeing the high pricing and the patheticaly bad estimated performance times, why bother? Sure the 05's look great and probably ride nice but who cares if its not a top notch performer? If I just wanted a comfortable, pretty car, I might as well go...

    Not enough power... In 2005

Well lets see...the McLaren and GT are considered "super cars" and they were trying to be a little realistic there. I am not saying an Evo will beat a car like the McLaren or GT either but you have to respect what it can do on a road course, its easily the best one you can buy for under $100K...

    Not enough power... In 2005

Well, since you insisted. Here isjust one test with the Evo destroying some exotics and even your precious Cobra as well. MT considered these the top 10 track cars you could buy and look how well the Evo did as I have said. Of course its not as strong in the tests of pure speed because its not...

Preliminary 1/4mi times for stock '05 GT

No way, it will do better than that. It should be a high 13 car at around 105 MPH. But now that I have seen the pricing, forget it. I would much rather pay a little more and get a GTO or an Evo and blow right past it :nice:

    '05 Pricing Is Out!!!!

Too expensive!! You know they will be marked up at least a grand as well, so we are talking $27-28K? for a base model? no thanks. Those few who brought up the GTO are correct, I would much rather pay a few K extra for a car with 100 more hp and alot more torque that will be more than capable of...

You are right but...you are talking about MODIFIED race cars. You really think those Vettes, Porche's and Stangs are STOCK? LOL Everything from the engine to the suspensions are all modded out on those track cars. Of course an Evo couldnt hang with those, you are an idiot if you expect it to...

    Not enough power... In 2005

Dude, I am not going to sit here and look up all the info on it just to prove a point to you. Why dont you go to "Google" and type in "Mitsubishi lancer evolution" for yourself and you will find plenty of articles from magazines with Evos dusting off exotics in road tests. Porche, Ferrari, BMW...

Funny, that suspension rides and handles 50 times better then the POS on the current Mustangs.

    Not enough power... In 2005

Most of the car magazines have put it against other sports cars in tests and it always comes out in the top 5 in every category.

    Not enough power... In 2005

Oh, I'll take that bet, come out here to SoCal. An Evo holds the best time at the road course most people go to out here, one lap in 1 min 31 sec. Not too many RWD guys run that course because it embarasses them, only one guy with a Cobra had enough balls to race it and he finished it in 1 min...

    Not enough power... In 2005

Not by my standards. A monkey could sit there, hold the wheel straight and mash the gas pedal to the finish line, there is no skill involved at all. Go race a few laps on a 1.5 mile road course where you have to think and have alot of racing and driving skills to win, thats REAL racing. Oh and...

    Not enough power... In 2005

I agree with you guys that the Cobra is badass, and with mods, the only thing that will give it a run for its money at high speed is a modded Supra. But you still have to give the STi and Evo credit for doing what they can do, especially on a road course. I have seen STi's and Evo's embarrass...

    Not enough power... In 2005

He IS serious. A stock STi will run the quarter in 12.9 which is right about what the 03 Cobra will do it in. Add a few minor mods to the STi and it will beat a Cobra with ease, I have seen it myself at the track quite a few times. An Evo on the otherhand takes a tick over 13 seconds, it will...

    auto or manual fastest?

Auto with a shift kit will be a bit better and slightly faster in the quarter mile, manual is far superior in ever other category, especially in a race around a track where you must be in control of your own gears.

    Shifter too close to dash?

I didnt have any problems with it, its in the exact same place it is in the 03-04 Cobra.

I did it I sat behind the wheel of an 05

Its fast, a TON faster then the 215 hp Stangs and even much faster then the latest 260 hp ones. Hate to draw this comparison again but it feels about as quick as an SS Z28 and the handling is much improved. I doubt too many here have driven one, but I would say the handling is very comparable to...

2005 Automatic GT Suppose It's Possible????

Well it has been estimated at about 13.7 and I'm sure it will be a bit quicker then that real life, it sure felt faster than a high 13 car to me, I would say mid 13's, maybe even 13.4 So if you are looking for low 13's, I would figure just a few minor tweaks would get you there easy.
