What Oil filter have you used

Dude, Amsoil goes like, forever...and you're going to change it every 5K? You must have more money than....the rest of us. :nice: Depending on my driving style, I may go with 5K-7.5K intervals of Mobil 1. Remember, these cars take 8 quarts of oil. That's what makes for a long service interval...

What Oil filter have you used

Well...I only have 2,5XX miles on my car right now. The oil change interval for a 2011 GT is 10,000 miles. I will change the oil at 5K miles and 10K miles, then go with 10K intervals. I will use the OEM Ford filter...perhaps a FRPP filter if I'm feeling spendy.

Who uses 87 octane with stock tune on the 5.0?

Exactly. Twenty cents/gallon more @ 10 gallons at a top off is only $2.00 more per tank. If you can't swing that, you need to stop eating. Regarding the computer tune and needed higher octane...you can get tunes for 87+ octane. I have 87, 91, 93 Octanes....yet to be uploaded, but I have them. ;)

    Lava Red Pic

Is that really "red?" It looks like a red car reflecting in a black Mustang. Either way, it's hideous.

Anybody here autocross or road race?

I've done auto-x on/off since 1999. Used my '07 GT a few times last year, and that was fun. Walking the course is never the same as when you're in the car at speed, but it's a good idea to walk it several times so you don't forget it. Slow and smooth is fast. Remember that. You will most...

    Boss dyno with numbers

Red key doesn't add power, according to Ford. Just changes the tune to that of a Boss 302R race car. But you'd think that might offer some more power....

    Boss dyno with numbers

Soo. 15% drivetrain loss......should make it about 478 at the flywheel? I'm not good at math, so someone can feel free to chime in anytime. :)

    Steeda CAI & Tune

I'm leaning towards a Roush axle-back. I had them on my 2007 and they sounded WONDERFUL. Lots of compliments on it. ROUSH Performance: 2011 Mustang Exhaust Kit with Round Tips Sound clips at the bottom left.

Who uses 87 octane with stock tune on the 5.0?

Are you gonna beat on the car to get your "baseline"? It's a brand new car, too! :( I can't imagine there'd be much going on for the butt dyno between 87 and 91 octane. Perhaps a 93 with tune will give you something to can "feel." I will find out soon, as I have 3 tunes sitting in my email. I...

    5.0 "engine tick"

I have 2,000 miles on my car. Haven't heard any ticking. Can you here it inside the car, or only outside when the hood is up and you lay your head on the valve cover?

Who uses 87 octane with stock tune on the 5.0?

My car came with a tank of 87. After that tank was done, I put in 93 octane. I haven't gone below that since then (2,000 miles later). I couldn't really "drive" the car because of the cold/snowy weather, so I can't comment on performance improvements. I know the computer adjusts for octane...

    2011 Mustang GT Exhaust Opinions

The Roush website claims their axle-back for the 2011 has no drone, either. I had them on my 2007 and there was drone at 1,750rpm. My '11 has 3.73s so if there was drone...I might be able to drive around it.

    SYNC and USB thumb drives

Hey, I'm using iTunes, and all of my music has the track, title, artist, genre, etc. called out already. If I just call out a genre when using SYNC, it works like a champ. All songs in that genre play flawlessly. It's really only when I say "Play All" and/or "Shuffle"...that sometimes I...

Push Start ( Small gripe )

The Ford GT40 was a race car. It didn't come with keys. The Ford GT was a modern interpretation of that race car, and thus, has a push button start...perhaps to replicate that "race car" feeling. ANY OTHER CAR...especially cars like minivans, and Altimas, Maximas...and the like, look...

    2011 GT Shifting Issue

It's like, 10 degrees in the Detroit area. The grinding for me occurs in from 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I tend to take it slowly, until the car warms up. When the car is totally warm, there is no crunching during shifts. It's just a temp/fluid thing I'm sure.

    HI and new guy here

Also with the GT premium comes SYNC. And with that, you get 3 years of free turn-by-turn navigation. I didn't know this and thought it was pretty cool. I've used it a few times. Basically you go to "services" and then you can speak an address, or give a business name in the city...etc...and...

    2011 Mustang Brake Upgrades

How does other driver's driving habits require you to upgrade your brakes? I'm confused. If you're the better driver, you just avoid them. Pay attention, don't tailgate, etc. I put 65K miles on my '07....with...cough...the original brakes. I drive around the Detroit area. Pretty crazy, I...
