Removing locking lugnuts that I don't have a key for.

The finish/condition of the rims on the car makes me wonder why the PO even had locking nuts on them anyway. I've tried pressurewashing and soaking them in cleaner to get all the junk off them but I'm thinking they are permanently stained. The car was fairly neglected.

Removing locking lugnuts that I don't have a key for.

Well rigamaroles method worked. I've got a plastic bag full of little piece of locking lug nuts now. Get to go to the store tomorrow and get at least 3 maybe 4 lug studs. Oh and ice the hand that got smacked with the 3 lb sledge.

    HVAC issue

Check the vacuum lines. It sounds like the yellow vacuum line from the defrost/dash flapper came loose/leaks. The line comes off the back of the HVAC switch and if you look up under the driver side of the dash you should see a vacuum canister. It should look like this. I just went through...

Removing locking lugnuts that I don't have a key for.

Well I went to continue my "maintenance on a new car" by changing out all the brake fluid since it is the color of coke. Pull the center caps off and found that there are a set of locking lugs on the car. I know that the standard hammer a socket on the locking lugnut works on the nuts that are...

    Finally got another 5.0

Well I took the switch apart, cleaned all the vacuum holes(could see light through all of them already but figured why not), and reinstalled the switch. Everything works now. Not sure what exactly it was but it's better now. Thanks for the help and ideas everyone.

Do I need to rebuild or replace my 3G alternator?

You can probably just borrow the tool from advance, autozone, whatever parts store is near you. I've used a rubber mallet to install pulleys. It's not the best idea though since you can mess up the alt. The pulley is almost pressed on so the pully is just held on with the tight fit between the...

Do I need to rebuild or replace my 3G alternator?

The puller is pretty much required for removing the pulley. Also doesn't hurt to head up the pully at little too.

    Finally got another 5.0

Okay got the dash off. Gonna set the ground rules. The flapper that sends the supply to either the upper ducting or lower ducting opens(upper ducting) when no vacuum is applied. The defroster/dash flapper supplies the defroster when no vacuum is supplied. The recirc(max A/C) flapper fails to...

    Finally got another 5.0

When the HVAC control it taken too A/C(norm and max) I get a vacuum at the yellow line on the canister in the picture. That tab won't move with a pencil or paperclip due to the angle. I guess the dash comes off this evening.

    Finally got another 5.0

Well replaced the vac line and still no joy. I started checking the vac operated assemblies in the dash and found what I think is the problem. The silver tab in the middle of the picture(not the canister) operates the flapper for directing air to the upper/lower ducting. Only problem is that I...

Airbag light and clock spring replacement

Airbag light is flashing every 20-30 seconds, the steering wheel clicks at a certain point of rotation(presumably the broken clock spring for the airbag), and it's annoying. I searched and found this thread. http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=624075&highlight=air+bag Which led me to...

    Finally got another 5.0

Found the vac line you're talking about Jaswir. Wasn't broken at the vac tree. But it was broken at the other end. I'm planning to get a new vac line to replace it tomorrow.

    Finally got another 5.0

Finally got another 5.0. HVAC ducting questions. Well I decided that since I never really had time/opportunity to off road my jeep like she needed I'd have to let her go. A member of the sportsbikes.ws was trying to sell his Mustang 5.0 and I offered to trade. Well I just got home in this. She...

Umm I would suggest asking in the 4.6 forum for some better ideas. But so far he(and you)seem to have the right idea with the plugs and coils..

    Thumper heads

I had a set of thumper's heads on my mustang and loved them. I don't think you can beat them for price. You may not get 100K miles out of them but they don't affect your reliability much if any.. I don't think you are going to need to upgrade your injectors based on your list of mods and the...

    realy inportant question

I did almost the exact same thing. Blew a heater hose and tried to drive home. Car ended up shutting down on me and when I popped the hood I had coolant boiling from around the heads. Replaced the head gaskets, vacuumed coolant out of the cylinders, and put it all back together. She ran fine...

    Shifter/tranny problem suggestions

Pull the boot from around the shifter first to see if something came loose there. If nothing is wrong there then I would say it's time to drop the tranny and break her open. It's not a real difficult task to do. Disassembling the tranny pieces(gears/shift forks/sychros) is kind of a pain but you...
