    Also you can pull the distributor and use a drill with a long flathead screwdriver attachment and spin up the pump. Pull a valve cover off and do the above to check the pump. Had to do that so I didn't destroy my jeep's new motor after I blew up the old one.

    The sensing line may be clogged or your gauge may be toast. Do you have a friend with the same type of gauge? Maybe try a swap. Not sure if air in the line might cause something like that or not.

    The shift rod tab does have a specific position that it needs to be in for the tranny to shift properly. Is the shift rod you are talking about the one that the shifter knob goes down into? About 4 inches longs or so or is it the ones that the shift forks are bolted too? If it's the 4 inch one...

    Dangerous way to check. Pull the fuel rail off and try to start the car. If fuel comes out the injectors are working. Check the vac line to the fuel pressure regulator.

    Why doesn't my fuel gauge work?

    Float may have slipped or stuck, wiring to tank sending unit may be loose/unhooked, connection on back of gauge may be loose/unhooked.

    converting to mass air

    Get a MAF, air intake, and the section of harness that goes from the MAF to the main engine harness. I think I did my conversion for about $200-250. Most of the cost was my CAI.

    Pretty sure that you will. You may be able to mod the aod's crossmember but why chance it. Pick it up for cheap from a junkyard.

    50 resto interior upholstery peices?

    I replaced the blue interior on my 89 with a solid black from Resto and it fit very well. Didn't do headliner though. The seats are a bit of work but nothing major.

    I would go aftermarket because I believe the keyless entry that comes in cars from the factory is wired into the computer.

    firewall adjuster... can someone explain??

    The adjuster acts like an expandible section of clutch cable housing. If you screw it out it makes your clutch cable housing longer and vice versa. Yes it will allow adjustment of the stock cable. It's like the cable adjusters on a 10 speed bicycle.

    I've never had a problem with a starter that I replaced engaging. If you are that concerned about it get a machinist scale(metal ruler) and place it in the teeth of the flywheel. If the gap lines up with the starter teeth then you should be good. I think you can start the car without the tranny...

    question on spark plugs on aluminum heads, not a mustang.

    It wouldn't hurt to take them out and put some on but I've never put any anti seize on any of my motorcycle spark plugs, their heads are aluminum, and I've never had a problem.

    new engine overheating?

    It could be as simple as having the thermostat in backwards. There may be a hose connected wrong too. Did he burp the cooling system?

    bad starter solinoid??

    I'd check the battery. If you jumper the solenoid and it doesn't do anything then it sounds like the battery to me or the starter as Repostyle stated.
